Remember to reduce the warranty to minimum where applicable and take all Dell deals right through to checkout for final pricing.

actually...if you take off the 3 year warranty and go to the checkout it also deducts the delivery until 20/02 so the total price inc VAT is £269 delivered? ...But how do you become a business user...lol

Well spotted! Anyone can buy from Small business, just put your name when it askes for a business name.

Is this available with Windows XP home?
XP Professional is £30 extra.
#4
THIS HAS NOT EXPIRED...can someone change the expiry notice please.
[mod]#5
Some members have enough power to expire deals, Its sad that they feel so threatened by a good dell deal that they feel they must expire them.
#6
WOW! Amazing deal. Very hot! Shame I already got one a few months ago but it was more expensive and much lower spec than this.
#7
This looks very tempting...

If you want XP Professional (no Home as it is a business system) for £0 it might be worth going for the next deal up in the Vostro 1000 range, which is the same spec, EXCEPT it has a faster processor, the AMD® Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL60 Processor, (2 x 2ghz), but it does give you the option of XP Professional for £0. Total Price for this option at checkout is £327.83 plus Quidco cash back for further money off.

Has to be the best cheap laptop deal so far - I thought we were going to have to wait longer for prices to reduce...
#11
Looks good, been wanting a laptop for a while.
How will Vista run on this?

Are you sure anyone can buy this, not just businesses?

Can Quidco be used for further discount?

This deal looks pretty sweet. Any thoughts on whether the 3 yr warranty is actually worth it. It seems relatively cheap (69 exc VAT). So the question is are Dells reliable on the whole? Also, what's the lead time like at the moment?

Cheers for the input guys!

worth it.

you'd be hard presses to find a simillar spec laptop with a 3 yr warranty for £350 delivered.

Also Dells warranty is NBD (Next Business Day) iv called them out twice on two different dell machines. one a laptop and the other a desktop. both were more than two years old and had been signifcantly abused by my one year old :-D

anyway the point is the dell repairer came the very next day, and he was very good at his job, replaced motherboard and laptop screen within 45mins!

in contrast if you get a warranty with pc world on a laptop you are looking at a very very long wait before you get laptop repaired and returned to you! (anything up to two weeks)

Its a real steal at this price!

Bargain.....lets hope the chaps on the recent HP thread don't spot it....HOT HOT HOT

oh this is just what i've been looking for. wicked price and a good spec. never used vista and keep seeing posts slag it off on the lower spec machiens which has stopped me buying before.

I have found the Dell's to be very reliable, personaly i dont bother with extended warranties as i would never keep a lappy that long. 2/3 yrs a laptop/pc is of pensionable age for me:). especially at these prives.

AMD versus Intel it's that million dollar question on paper there rougly same spec its a matter of preference for me its AMD always has been.

Is this better then the recent Vostro 1500 deal that was posted here?. It's just that I'm waiting for a replacement and have the option to cancel that order.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks
#23
What are the main differences between the Vostro 1000 as apposed to the 1500 ? Thanks
#24
Just ordered one. I extended the battery to the 9 cell 85 hour option (extra £23) and added a Logitech VX Nano cordless laser mouse (£40). Total = £333 delivered. Still very good! Cheers :)

Bear in mins that 9cell batterys stick out at the back which would make them awkard looking and somwhat less portable.

What is the batterylife like on the standard 6 cell?

Also does this have HDMI/DVI ports?
#26
1st time trying to order one of these deals .. price is 298 + vat ?

One thing you should be aware of is that the chassis and build quality of the Vostro 1000 is entirely different to the Vostro 1400 and Vostro 1500. The Vostro 1400 and 1500 have magnesium in their case body, which makes them much sturdier. If you need a laptop to last you 3 – 4 years, the Vostro 1400/1500 are the way to go. They also look nicer because they have a bit of a curved finish, media buttons, LED accent lighting and you can see a metallic finish that’s more professional looking.
