Would avoid this one atm for the slightly more expensive brother the Vostro 1500. About £30-40 more and you can have a much better laptop.
#2
I bought one recently for £233, so I can't say this is a good deal. Vostro 1500 deal is better than this by a mile.

Agreed the Vostro 1500 deal at £316 beats this hands down for £34 more you are getting double the RAM, a 8cell battery rather than 4, either a 120gb or 160 gb hard drive (depending which upgrade you choose to reduce the price) and a whole host of other improvements.

IMO this deal was so good that I actually bought one whereas with pc's I build my own or laptop I wasnt that fussed either way about laptops, I only own the one ive got now as I got it for £25 knowing I could opt to whack it on ebay and get around £80+. But this deal (1500 model) was too much temptation spec for money wise I can see my desktop getting neglected as a pc and run as media centre and downloading rig due to storage capabilitys that a laptop can never offer!

see here for the 1500 deal and decide for yourself:

I got this exact laptop for £226 delivered a couple of weeks ago.

Was tempted to post this myself, but decided against it...I've clicked warm for the effort (not that it will make much difference!)

:-D Thank you. I didn't spot yours or I wouldn't have bothered - it's infinitely better! But this may be of benefit to someone once yours expires and some people may be stretching it to find £282 so really can't afford the extra for the better machine, so if it's of use to them then it was worth posting.

I completely agree. I do find there is an over tendancy to say "for only £30 more" on this, when as it is your already stretching to whatever amount it is.

I still haven't ordered my own Dell Laptop yet - I can't quite convince myself!

I was really lucky and got this machine at £233 - a bargain and perfectly adequate for me especially as I've just discovered the Dell desktop I'm currently using is running on 512mb of RAM!

I bought my mum a £233 machine, should have bought myself one too really ...

If anybody who ordered the Vostro at the cheaper price could pm me there customer or order number so I can try and get Dell to match the old price over the phone please.

I know that other deals may be better but price is paramount for this laptop purchase (though a 6 cell battery would be best over a 4 cell).

If the price is likely to drop to what it was last time then I'll pick it up online.

mumbojumbo
Hop over to Dell Outlet...
System ID no: FLVWAXA5 for £287.97 including free delivery (using the Buy Now Save Voucher -£54.64 which appears in the accessories listing).

Where is the voucher? I think the need for sleep is making me blind :(:D
