As this comes with vista business you also get the chance to have XP pro for free also - take a look at Sir Mike's blog for details. Remember quidco! Should be about £13....

Choose vista business - but once you have your laptop you can request to downgrade to XP form dell and they will provide you with a serial for XP pro for free. You will then have to operating systems.

Dell normally give quite a large delivery window. It should come sooner. If not, try ringing dell and say youre dissappointed at the delivery time and sometimes it will magically get to you quicker.

Dell Product Code = N0414009 for those of you using Quidco and don't forget you have to have to go through the Business site to get this price. You can buy it at the Home site but it costs a lot more.

If you add to basket with vista, there's an option to add xp professional on the right hand side of the page next to the sub-total, click on add and it updates the order to xp pro without having to update the antivirus.

emasu, would you have an ecode that gives this laptop but with 256meg 3d card?

Unfortunately, the Vostro 1400 has a max graphics card of the 128mb 8400M GS. I dont know why. If you were going for the 256mb you will need to look at the Vostro 1500 or the Vostro 1700 :)

If you wouldn't be bothered with ordering and installing a new operating system, go through to the end and at the basket on the right hand side there's an option to pick XP at the 'Essential Add-Ons' part.

EDIT: sorry never saw MacPhisto's post.

If the conig is £299 then yes it will be £351

To achieve the price in the OP just add the MX3200 set.

Welcome To HotUKDeals BTW

Yes, but you'd have to pay for the Vista License.
The free downgrade is from Vista Business to XP Pro and doesn't work the other way.

Thanks and cheers...

Go on, buy it! I have to say this is a fantastic price for a 1.8ghz core 2, and with the extras like the mx3200 makes this a mega deal!
#37
Nice price, I bought one just before it was posted!

One question though I phoned them up to order to try and get a little money off and the guy added a 3 year warranty but on the invoice its listed as:
709-10174 Base Warranty
709-10175 1Yr Basic Warranty - Next Business Day
710-14045 2Yr Basic Warranty - Next Business Day

So does that mean I've got a 3 year or just 2. I spoke to the guy and he has assured me its 3 because the 2 year and 1 year add together but I haven't got it in writing.

Voted hot by the way!
