Dont knock the celeron cpu until you try it, its pretty quick really.

Add another gig of ram and 128Meg graphics and its £356 delivered

Or 2gig ram, quick cam 5000 and a surge socket for £326 delivered.

I will point you at this thread, the celeron is quite a nice low cost option really.

I agree with MikeT on this one, laptop Celerons are decent, i can;t believe there isn't too much debate about AMD processors in Laptops, i've found them to be aweful and sluggish!

Can someone please, help me out with the issue of it being on the business site.

I am a home user, not a small business..

So can i officially buy from here or what? Whats the legal situation ?

Thanks in advance, the more help the better, as I am passing this onto someone else, so goes on my reputation.

Anyone can buy from small business site, just be sure to put your own name in the box for business name and put home for where its being used.
Its been historically harder to return for a refund from small business, but if your ordering what you really want then there wont be a problem. Warranty is in most cases better than the home site.

Not really sure about this deal.

Without graphics ebuyer has some competitive deals including.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139119 and

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/140189 add 1GB and hard drive smaller but includes bluetooth and is HP(better or worse?)

The graphics deal seems better but using No314004 code add graphics and it is £368. You lose the integrated webcam but get Vista Business (or XP Pro) and T7250 Core2Duo. EDIT Mybad just realized it is T5270.

The difference is that these are 15.4" laptops whereas the Dell is 14.1". Smaller laptops tend to be that bit more expensive as they are a bit more portable. I suspect that laptops with a similar screen size will be a bit less competitive on ebuyer. (Although I could be wrong!)

Just had a quick look on ebuyer, this Acer is probably the closest match. It's about the same price, but with a smaller hard drive, slower memory (although it does claim to be 1x1gb, rather than the less expandable 2x512MB on the Dell) and it only has Vista Basic where the Dell has Home Premium.

There's not a huge difference between the two, which is perhaps why this is not as hot as some of the other Dell laptop deals have been of late.

Point taken Mike but the 1400 is much better than the 1500 for size and weight but compared to more stylish notebooks the 1400 is good but not vastly different.

I know where you're coming from, the 1400 is hardly the most svelte of 14" laptops, but it is still about an inch narrower and almost an inch less deep than the HP. It does weigh about the same though. I would agree with you about the one with the graphics card being better vfm though.

Looks a really good deal - thanks
