It was £299 but now has £20 discount, however the Dell discounting algorithm still thinks it's £299 so it deducts the shipping costs.
Dell will remove this in time.
#13
how did u get it 299???
#14
is it worth to add:
15.4" Wide Screen WXGA+ (1440 x 900) Display with TrueLife™ [add £23.50 or £1/month1]???

On the site...was £299 now £279 ...it's from the business site...transposed by brains onto home site for your DSR protection.
Don't forget on business you add VAT
#16

Most definitely....NOT! Truelife is simply another word for making your screen useless, the glossy finish means it's like a mirror meaning you can't see a thing.

I really like the truelife screens. They suck under flourescent lighting but otherwise I think they are great.

Wow that is so so so cheap for a core 2 duo laptop with 2gbs of ram

I need to buy a laptop for my student daughter. Emails and surfing not games
Have several questions- am not very knowledgeable but have been reading posts about laptops over last few weeks. Would like to wait a day or so for more comments about this lappy to surface but is this a misprice that could quickly disappear?

So, if regulars could not groan too much and answer some of the below I would be very very grateful:

1 Stick with Vista or would XP give better performance?
2 As does previous poster, I would like to know is it worth upgrading to truelife?
3 Anything else worth upgrading without reaching the position of there being better deals?
4 battery would stick out of back so downgrade if a problem?
5 A question to make you groan - are these laptops reasonably stylish and not too heavy??
6 Definitely would be ordering from Home and not Business?
7 Going all the way to checkout means literally last screen ie after credit card details are put in I imagine - but the price does come up clearly before the final confirmation? This I am most scared about!!!

Many thanks

I personally would stick with Xp
I would upgrade to TrueLife
Downgrade battery if you wish
They are reasonably stylish - Got a vostro 1500, 1700 myself (all good)
The link takes you through the Home section to purchase
Just add the laptop to your basket - you will see the Total price with discounts there

1. XP will give better performance (ie. speed) for sure.
2. I would say no.
3. For basic e-mails and surfing, I would say no.
4. If you want to add a month onto your delivery time! Better just to stick with the 9 cell - it only protrudes by about 3cm.
5. Fairly stylish but also fairly (but not too) heavy.
6. Yes.
7. No. You see final price before entering credit card details.

You don't pay for the warranty. You remove it as part of the deal, so I don't know why you're complaining.

Can you play latest pc games with this, or would you have to upgrade graphics card

I bought Vostro 1400 with similar specs for £400+ just before the Ney Year day. Can I cancel the order and get this one instead, it is in pre-production stage and ETA is 01 Feb 2008 according to order status ?
#34
£313 with Quidco is a steal for a decently put together laptop with this spec. It has a Next Business Day on-site Warranty as well which is a nice bonus.
Best laptop deal that I’ve seen near to £300. Feeling hot, hot, hot. :-D

Yes, cancel it. Even it they deliver you can return it easily enough although I'm not sure how that works if you buy from the Buisness site!

Hi Guys, Would like to order two of these. Dell offer a discount on purchases over £549.00 but it seems to only apply to their business site. Would you advise to buy via business site ( with inferior warranty) or is there any way of applying the discount to the home site ? Many thanks.

Save £50 Off Any Order Over £549 excl vat at Dell Business available on First Purchase over £549 (more)

Expires: 30th January 2008

As the base price dips under £299 ex vat, the free delivery must be a mistake.
Order one now !!
Also it says £20 off yet takes £23.50 off the total, somethings wrong???
