If your considering this you may want to think about later model Vostro 1510 ecode N0715111A which is the same spec but just 1gig of ram but has 160GB hard drive for £282 delivered or £335 with 2 gig of ram.
[mod]#2
Now reduced to £282.07 delivered

Seems to have been reduced to £239.70 delivered unless I've got it wrong, seems a good deal for a basic robust laptop

No goof csi, I personally would spend a bit more and get a core 2 duo.

I know the celeron is supposed to be good but I would pay the extra.

This is now showing as £189.00 !!

Plus its Vista Home premium as opposed to basic.

After seeing you post yesterday Mike for the £216 Vostro, I attempted to purchase last night but unfortunately the deal had expired.

Do you think that there is any chance of this deal or a similar appearing Mike or should I just pay the extra £24ish & get this Celeron Vostro?

Many thanks.

The deal above (not posted by MikeT) has been pulled from this site since this new deal posted by MikeT went up. Why?

No commission in it perhaps?

I have no idea at all what Dell will do next, not really sure they know!
#17
Thanks Mike.

I've gone for this deal.

Thanks for you help.
#18
Don't suppose anyone knows if this will include an ethernet port, ms/pro card reader and an s video output? Cheers.
#19
Price has gone up to £251.45.

Really surprised this hasnt got as much heat as the Vostro 1000... this is a much better machine in many ways. The Celeron here is superior to the Sempron and the 1500 is mag alloy + more standard features.
[mod]#20
Some buy on price alone I guess.
I would much rather have a Vostro 1500 over the V1000
#21
Anyone know how long the battery would last if it was just being used with Word ?
Can you s/w down scale the cpu to save power ?
[mod]#22
Still available at £251.45

Welcome back MikeT .. where have you been all this time? I haven't seen a Dell offer for the best part of 2-3 months now!

EDIT .. okay, i haven't been looking in the right places! Thanks. hot hot..
#27
Yeah, where have you been MikeT?

I'm in the market for a new laptop for Christmas and am counting on you to come up with the goods!

More front page deals please, for us lazy people.

Will Quidco track on this?

i bought 2 Dells beginning of the year, laptop vostro 1700 from the business site and a desktop from the normal customer site, got paid on both from quidco. will take around 2-3 months before they pay out, but you will get paid..
#29
The 1510 looks like a sweet deal (289 before quidco, about 320 with 256 MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8400M GS). Can't go wronf for a cheap and very usuable lappy. Wellcome back MikeT...
#30
Thanks for this, ordered for my uncle who wasn't sure what to buy, cheap and looks good!
#31
do you have to have a business to buy it from dell buisness, whats the cons of buying a business laptop?

do deals like this come up often
[mod]#32
Anyone can buy from Dell Small Business, just be sure to use your own name (dont make up a business name) and select "home" as the point of use.
Some have had difficulty returning kit to SB under distance selling regs so be sure its what you want before purchase, but mostly its fine. Warranty is usually better with on site repairs.

I've not been away guys, just Dell have had such high pricing recently I didnt find too many deals to shout about.
#33
Just wondered - assume that a fixed network socket is included? I haven't gone wireless yet!

Yes the warranty still applies to you as a non business. As for software look through the config pages to see what it can come with.
#37
A lazy question here: but is the wireless feature via a supplied 'slot in card' or is it built in? I'm just a bit concerned a card might stick out. Can anyone clarify this for me? Cheers

Shame the Vostro 1510 is now comming in at £310 not the £282.07 delivered price.
[mod]#38
Built in mini wifi card, does NOT stick out.
