quidco doesn't work longer with businees deals, only on home products

Hi All

2 questions, which may sound a little bit stupid:oops:

1) If I alter it so the 2gb of memory takes up 1 slot, can I just buy another 2 gigs and fif it myself?
2) Will it play/copy cds?

how many MB is the graphics?

TBH it doesn't really matter as Intel integrated solutions are pretty much fail for gaming.

Which still fails for gaming.

The X3100 is integrated and doesn't have any dedicated memory so you could say it's effectively 0MB.

I got a couple of 1510s for work last time they had them at £316 with a webcam.

They are excellent machines for the money they even had Microsoft office installed.
I got the £300 pound Vaio deal from littlewoods for myself but I really regret being snobbish and not getting a Dell for myself as they have better software/hardware.

Everyone says this but its only true up to a certain point - I have a vostro 1500 with the intel X3100 and it will play many recent games BUT not on high settings. For example company of heroes opposing fronts plays on low at 1280x800 quite happily.

Another point is if you want to play games, a laptop is not the way to go in most cases anyway - these are meant for work and moderate graphic work, not the latest games.
#22
I have a laptop with a 965 thingy in it and frankly it can't play shizzle (even a DX8 game on low).

1) Yes...but the b****** tiny screws in the cover over the spare slot are a pain in the ****. I ended up levering it off with a flat screwdriver and gluing it back into place....and anyway...you want MORE than 2GB?? WTF for?? Look at the rest of the specs. Even with "just" 2Gb RAM bottlenecks elsewhere would mean the laptop never used more than 1GB.

2) Yes

:w00t::w00t::w00t:

What's wrong with a 2lb lump hammer and a decent sized chisel? One sharp smack with that and you can get to all the little bits inside.

It's a shame they only offer the 6 cell battery with these, and not the 9 cell. I've always found my 6 cell a bit small, and regretted not upgrading at the time.
banned#29
Would the 9 cell stick out ?

Also why does it show fingerprint readers on the laptops, has anybody actually had a vostro delivered with that feature ?
#30
Has anyone got any feedback on a Vostro 1510? How about the build quality? Cheers,

i bought one in June ... it has fantastic build quality. Piano black finish and touch media buttons. Slot loading dvd to top it off.

I just ordered another!! .. 3 laptops from dell this year so far..

Fingerprint readers are, i guess for use with the TPM chip inside computers to keep the data nice and secure.

Is there any possibilty of another 10% discount voucher appearing again on the vostros or perhaps the inspiron/studio laptops? (Mike?)

Why isn't this deal expired if you can't get it for £316.19.

The title doesn't really sound like a good deal "was £316.19 now £351.33 delivered" :?

It doesn't sound like a good deal because is not particularly good one :-D

Do not expire the deal, Dell's followers will destroy you :p

Received mine today less than a week after ordering .. bizarre considering there were supposed delays?

ANyway, one thing i couldn't understand when ordering was that i couldn't reproduce the price of £316 by manually building up a vostro 1510 with all the specs. The price always came up £50 more. In the end just used the direct link...

Anyways.. very pleased.

slightyl off topic but I need help

I bought a 1510 and found the quality to be quite bad if im honest (i have a 1700 and its much better) but I forgot to put it through the home site and ended up buying from the business site. I want to return the laptop and instead have told them that I want a studio in return but they are syaing there is no return policy available. Is there anything I can do to get this laptop changed?

I only receieved it yesterday and honestly thought it would be a fine laptop but im just not happy with it and really want to return it and get a studio or something else instead?

Anyone know any ways out or anything I can do?

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, section 7.8 of their T&C states that business users may only return products for material non-conformity within 7 days of delivery. You don't have the same 7 day "cancel for any reason" cooling off period that standard customers have.
