Last one sold on eBay for £2.74. Max seems to be £20 so not really much to come back from the sale of this!

"Errors:
The selected Graphics Card is incompatible with the Power Supply. To fix this issue please click on the highlighted words to be directed to the appropriate section to modify your selections."
when you get to the add to basket.

Thats a dell error, they didnt offer a larger psu, but did offer the graphics card. The only way around that is to phone in an order maybe they can add the psu then.

Should be fine, yes.

To double check you can use kingstons site configurer.

I believe Mike T has said that the Vostro 1000 is not a real Vostro. If this is the case, what is basically better on the 1510 than the 1000?

That was used; the cheapest new one went for £22 including postage.

After Quidco and selling the Router the cost will be about £255.

Another nice deal MikeT, Thanks
#13
Compared to the previous Dell post, is this a better laptop?

Vostro 1510 is the latest model of the Vostro 1500. For comparisons, see the Dell website: http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/4x_vostro_1000?c=uk&cs=ukbsdt1&l=en&s=bsd

Might be better to go with the;

15.4" Wide Screen WXGA+ (1440 x 900) Display with Anti-Glare Coating

upgrade, adds on the amount needed and would give a noticeable difference to the laptop.
#16
shame there isn't a 128mb graphics option for this available, might consider it otherwise!

Wish they could supply it with Linux to get rid of the included fee for the MS license.

nice find though, voted hot!
#17
Good deal, but I think the Vostro 1500 1.4Ghz C2D, 2GB ram, 120GB HDD, Trulife for £324 from Jan that you posted was the best Vostro 1500 deal yet.

Hi mitchb

How are you getting that laptop at that price, it's coming up at £505.32 for me even when I add to basket?
#20
Might have gone for this were it not for the warning about an "extended delivery time" - any chance of getting this by the end of next week if I were to order today?
#21
Thats the home site Jimbo, you need the small business site for that price....

If you just add the screen upgrade, free delivery does not kick in. The router does because it is a special offer, so while it only charges you half price, the full price is used to calculate the free shipping threshold. It's basically a mistake.
#23
Interesting there is no 9 cell battery option.
#24
XPPro (free) + screen and webcam upgrade comes to £299 so the free del kicks in. With the £35 discount the final dell price is £310 + additional 5% from quidco. 1Gb is plenty for XPPro so memory upgrades not required. Overall price under is £299 is excellent for the spec.
#25
Hi mitchb

Managed to get it at that price and I went for it. Cheers for the help.
#26
MikeT,

about how often, in your recollection, does the free graphics upgrade come along? I think many of us wish we'd taken advantage of it back in Jan (IIRC).
#27
I'm pretty sure there is a long lead time on these though - to do with iffy keyboards. I've ordered a couple recently and they've yet to be dispatched.

That seems an excellent deal... I think you should post
exactly what I'm looking for.... but i was prepared to wait a couple of months, should I?

Also is there a fingerprint reader, and how do these compare to the old line of vostros (1500)?

It’s no mistake as Dell always uses the full price of the components when calculating the notional full price of the system. It’s a great way of getting the best deals if the extras have a decent resale value. I’ve done that on 3 Dell systems for family members and got really low prices as a result. For some systems I chose dual 750GB hard drives which I got a great price for and then bought 250GB drives from Scan Today Only.

It's the normal Dell procedure.

How much difference between the 1.8ghz T5670 and the 2 ghz T5870 CPU's will there be a noticible difference?
#33
I have just ordered one of these.
Do you get the OS DVD ?
Cheers Mike. Heat & Rep added.

About 10% difference at the most and less for some applications; it’s not a significant difference and not worth £50 + VAT.

gandalf999
Do you get the OS DVD?

Yes you do, the full operating system install disc, not a system restore disc.

I am keen to buy this but going on holidays. Any way I can request delayed delivery!
What is the normal delivery time [anyone got confirmation]

Just order online then when you have your order number phone customer services and tell them when you are back and they will put a note on your order file for you.

I've been quoted estimated delivery by 11th June in my Order Confirmation.....

I notice there is a pending transaction to debit my credit card already from Dell this morning....

But I'm guessing they will cancel the pending transaction, and debit on day of shipping if my previous Dell order was anything to go by a few months ago.
#38
It's the opposite for me, payment hasnt been proccessed yet, And i buy quite a lot from dell and has always cleared payment instantly in the past.:( quite miffed with this one.
#39
Hi guys,

I would like to say that, if the website that XP Pro is free, in fact, it is not free, you actually have to pay for it...

I know that somewhere on the dell website, you can find the same spec with Linux instead. It is roughly £50 cheaper.

Ok, it seems that for a "unknown" reason, they don't have the same PC with Linux ...

http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/topics/topic.aspx/emea/segments/gen/client/en/ubuntu_landing?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs

*sadness*

Damn. Ordered the exact same spec £369 2gHz model on Sunday for £410! Should have waited until Thursday.
