missinformation the increase in power consumption will be relativly small in comparison to every other component in the laptop.

7200RPM drive is well worth having over a 5400RPM drive you get roughly 25% decrease in seak times and you system will feel more responsive and again boot faster.

alot of laptops around now have very low power usages, the power packs can give a max of ~60W or whatever but if your just browsing the internet all the other components will be using very little power so a difference of 1-5W does decrease battery life, after reading around it may not be such a huge amount (used to be though).

Guys, my brother needs a laptop for e-mails, instant messenger, listening to music and to be able to play Football Manager.

Will this laptop be ok? I'm guessing so.

Don't forget cashback on quidco (5%) or topcashback (6%) on the pre VAT price. As with all cashback its not guaranteed, but I've had successful claims from DELL purchases in the past from the small/medium business site.

You could achieve the best of both worlds by having a fast drive and accessing only when neccessary - turn off services you don't really need running - restore, indexing, pagefile etc - your pref.

For a good Benchmark cross section of power consumption please see

It is a very varied array of figures compared to performance.

The overall impression I get it that this not a big factor in a Laptop this price . Stability , robustness and security would all be higher on my list -If you were buying a highend Mac book this would become more of a factor.
