This looks like the best deal for a 17 incher with the 8600M GT that I’ve seen.

Other options for upgrading to get the price above £399 at which point the extra £25 discount kicks in are:
The Adobe Elements software for Photos, Video or both; £29 each or £49 for both, plus VAT.
Or you can add the Optical Scroll Premium USB Mouse and Lexar 1GB USB flash drive for a total of £440.25. I sold one of those mice for £8.50 so after Quidco and selling the mouse you’re looking at £413 in total with the flash drive thrown in.

I think some may prefer to upgrade the graphics card to N0417013 for a better processor and larger HD at the same price...
T5870 (2.0 GHz, 2 MB L2 Cache, 800 MHz FSB) & 250gb HD. No camera - but Vista Business may be preferred.

It’s showing as £486.45 for me in the basket with discounts but doesn’t include Bluetooth, the Webcam or mouse like this deal. It does have Vista Business though for those that require the XP Pro downgrade.

Apologies - I thought I had it at the lower price in the basket but I must have lost the graphics upgrade somewhere in the process!

So the Vostro 1700 uses the same battery as the Latitude D620 ?

Just I was thinking of getting this 1700 but those reviews have put me off if it's that bad.

I'd read that it's the same battery for the 1500/Inspiron 1520/1720 Notebook aswell as this 1700.

I have no idea why the member above posted a review of D20 batteries in this thread as the D620 battery fits on the front of the notebook and is grey. The Vostro 1700 is on the back and is black, so no it isnt the same battery.
I have had a D620 for 2yrs and no battery probs here at all, you need to remember that only ones moaning will be visible on google, the thousands of happy campers like me will be quietly enjoying.
I would also be surprised if the V1500 battery fits the V1700, Dell don't usually make it that easy.

Thanks for clearing that up Mike. The reason I'd posted about the equivellants is that they werelisted as all being suitable on a few fleabay posts I'd found but I thought it was best to check ;)

They were quoting "Dell 1720 1721 1520 Vos 1500 1700 Battery FK890 UW280"

The 6 cell battery is exactly the same for the following laptops:

Inspiron 1721 / 1520 / 1521 / 1720 NB
Vostro 1500 / 1700 NB

http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=bsd&cs=ukbsdt1&sku=451-10476

They don’t list the 9 cell battery but as far as I can deduce it should also be compatible with all these laptops also.

Thanks Agharta - would be the 9 cell i would go for - I appreciate the help :)

The Logitech MX3200 now has 50% off so if you add that and keep the Nvidia 128MB card it still pushes the price above £399 so you get the extra £25 off.
It comes to £412.43 or £394.88 after Quidco plus if you sell the MX3200 which should clear £30 easily the final price will be £365 which has to be a steal for this spec.

Note: The extra £25 discount ends tomorrow (23/04).

Yep the £25 off has gone - coming up as £457 with the op's specs but (without the mouse)
