Quick question... how are you getting these deals for Home users? I can't seem to find the Vostro range in the "home" users area. They are present in the Business section but isn't there an issue with Home users buying from the Business section?
#2
nice looking spec, shame its a dell though, wonder if they do it without vista, i.e. with linux.

any deals on hp laptops like the nc6400?
#3
mike has just used the same e-value codes advertised in the business section - they are not advertised in the home section for some reason.
you get better purchase protection as a home user,
if thats worth anything when dealing with dell.

If you buy via the got to deal links I post in the deal then you are buying via the home site with the protection that affords home users. If you go your own way and buy via the small business section then your stat rights are not as good as your buying as a business would.

Don't mean to be nosey but how are you able to do that?

Mike is it just me or have the price of the Vostro 1000's gone up in the past week or two?

I was looking at a Vostro 1000 with the AMD 64X2 CPU, 1GB Ram, 120GB hdd etc for my Girlfriend a few weeks ago and it was around £350 inc. delivery and VAT but now when i build the exact same spec on Dell's site, its coming out at around £400

Any idea if they will be coming down again any time soon? Don't fancy paying £400 for a build that was £50 cheaper a few weeks ago!

Nothing wrong with Dell. Good spec at a very good price.

linux:whistling: I bet you bought Betamax too.

Hardly a fair comparison.
If VHS was expensive to buy but Betamax was given away free I wonder which you might have chosen! ;-)

Thanks for that! Strange why Dell don't do the Vostro range for Home users.

Any ideas why there isn't an option to upgrade the deal to include vista ultimate? Am i right in sayin that Vista Business doesn't include many of the features required for multimedia home use?

well everyone agrees betamax was the best :-D

and isn't dell one of the exploding battery brigade? i know a couple of people who have had two motherboard replacements in their dells, and the build quality of HP just seems better.

mike do u think i will get a good spec laptop b4 christmas or shall i just get something thats out now?

Phoned the same rep i ordered from a few months back and quoted me a higher price that was available on the website. Last time i ordered a 6400 i think which was worth £750 and i got it for my mate for £450. Guess they must be cracking down now.

Wish my laptop wasn't dropped in the bath now(don't ask as im still highly depressed well the wife is ive still got my quad core machine up the stairs) as i can only get a replacement from my insurance company with pc world. £900 wont buy you much out of there. :(
