Can anyone get this link to work? (Can you get it with Vista Premium?)

Save £2.36 extra by....
Choosing the wireless keyboard and mouse for a few punds less ( £338.47 ).
Choose "Logitech™ Cordless Desktop™ EX110", then click on "Mouse Included in Wireless Keyboard and Mouse option" £2.36 better off & wireless keyboard&mouse.

I already mentioned changing to the wireless keyboard in the OP but I will admit I forgot to reduce the price by £2 as well

You can have it with XP Pro or Vista Business for this price, Ultimate is extra, if you want another OS you will need to contact dell.

Hi there, Core 2 Duo is a newer Intel technology than the dual core, with all the benefits that brings. Intel quad core chips have just had a substantial price cut, so you should see rigs like this one with the older core 2 duo being produced at a lower price point.

Very decent spec at a bargain price..good find Mike

this system uses the newest core 2 duo chips (e6x50 series)

Great spec, spot on price.

With 1333 FSB as opposed to the 1066 FSB of the E6X00 and 20 series. You see more of a difference on the Quad core chips with the larger bus.

Hmm, I can't get it below £346... any idea what I'm doing wrong, have I missed something?

EDIT: Ooo, and what's the delivery estimate on these?

Anyone know how long they're quoting for delivery?

What is the current consensus on the Dell 22" monitor ?

It seems a very good price for a 22" at under £150 (inc delivery).
[mod]#15
Its now £346.69 delivered as Dell played with the pricing on the Logitech wireless kit, still a good deal.

Hi

Does anyone know which company is used by dell for delivery? I can't stay at home all day and getting such a big item delivered to work is not practical for me. Can you request them for royal mail or parcelforce delivery so you can pick it up from the local post office?

Cheers!

Estimated delivery date 31st August :-(

They use people called Walsh [Western ?] wh are pretty good but you don't get much warning of when the delivery is coming. I would be 99.9% certain that they do not have the flexibility to deliver any other way, as the units come from Ireland and the Walsh service is a complete through shipment.

WW will ring to arrange delivery, if for some reason they miss you or cant get you when they ring they will attempt delivery, if that fails they will hold the parcel and attempt to call you to arrange a delivery time

How quiet is this model ? Was contemplating getting one to replace my ageing 'hoover-esque' desktop to use as a HTPC but if they are loud, I will give it a miss.

Cheers for any help.

Dell Mis-price on the Dell Dimension XPS 720H2C Base Unit

http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?b=&c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&oc=D08XP7

and

http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?b=&c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&oc=D08XP7XP

These are the default and available upgrade options:
320GB Serial ATA RAID 0 Stripe [2x160GB 10000rpm drives with DataBurst™ cache] [Included in Price]

1TB Serial ATA RAID 0 Stripe (2x500GB 7200rpm drives with DataBurst™ cache) [subtract £5.88]

1.5TB Serial ATA RAID 0 Stripe [2x750GB 7200rpm drives with DataBurst™ cache] [add £29.37]

This is most definately a mis-price.

I know these base units are expensive but there maybe someone out there who will appreciate this post......

:)

With these starting at £2800 I dont think there will be too many takers Brains ;-)

I'm new here and would like to thank the OP for this deal - I have just ordered over the phone and got the £346.69 spec. (without monitor, Logitech keyboard/mouse) but with Vista Premium instead of Business AND 3 year hardware support & 1 year software support for £405.45 which I think is a good deal.

Walsh Western are useless. Last year they lost half my consignment (it was in two boxes). It took them a whole week to deliver the second part. I complained to Dell and got quite a nice partial refund as a good well gesture.

That also wasn't my first problem with them.

Walsh Western only deal with deliveries as far as Coventry though I believe, its then passed onto another courier, which seems to be Business Post or whatever they call themselves now.

does anyone know if the psu and motherboard can handle one of the 8800 geforce graphics cards because if they can this would be a great set up, thanks.

I doubt the 300w psu can handle it, there may not be space for the card cooling either. If your thinking of this as a max performance upgrade path then it may not be a wise move.

16x DVD +/- RW Drive [Included in Price] so this burns dvds correct ? so why do they have option for 16x DVD+/-RW & 16x DVD Drives [add £17.63].
#33
Thanks for the reply Mike, might think about changing case and psu would still be cheaper than building it myself

So you can copy direct from one drive to the other. The dvd drive is just a player not a writer. The 16x DVD +/- RW Drive will write to dvd's and cd's

any thoughts on the vista business? is it suitable for home usage or will it have loads of unnecessary features?
