This is the same deal as was here http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/234837/dell-vostro-200-desktop-base-2ghz-d/
The only difference being the new ecode for October.

Hmm, this deal is very tempting. Less than £200 is a magic number that makes me want to pull out my card.

No its not a misprice, it ran for over a month on the September ecode, same spec.

Link to the old deal is in post 2. Its just a nice deal ;-)

Thanks for the post. Voted hot.
Before I ordered, however, I checked outlet site and was lucky enough to get identical kit for £154 del. Well pleased.

Just had a look at this deal, if you are going for it - change the memory option from 4x512Mb to 2x1024Mb. There is £0 difference, but if you want to upgrade the memory at a later date, you will have 2 free slots.

What is the motherboard spec? How many PCI slots for expansion?

can the graphics card be upgraded, if not through dell, by anyone who purchases this?
#17
dell website is a pain in the a**e

These systems usually have 1 16x PCI-e slot and 1 1x PCI-e slot.

So yes you can buy a graphics card and install yourself, just remember very powerful cards may require a PSU upgrade at the same time :)

Very hot deal, thanks Mike for the heads up on this one.

Hope someone can help, you mentioned outlet prices are cheaper, can anyone guide me to these as i'm on a tight budget! cheers

Just go to dell homepage and navigate to outlet site using menu bars. When you select a system don't forget to add vat. Also current £55 discount offer only aplies to vostro and inspiron models and only shows once you have put item in basket and ticked relevant box. Hope this helps. Good hunting

I may be wrong but I think that the Vista SP1 update provides 4gb RAM support

When i go through dell it still comes up as £298 and not £140 or 150 as some people are saying, any help?

This seems like a really good deal.

I bought a dell dimension e520 last april and its still running great but I was thinking of giving it to my parents as its still at their house and buying myself a new one.

I really dont know much about computers.
Would this be worth while doing, would it be an upgrade compared to what I have now?

I currently have:
Vista Home Premium.
DIMENSION E520 VIIV CORE 2 DUO PROCESSOR
Intel Core 2cpu, 4300 @ 1.80 GHz
1022 MB Memory (RAM)
32 bit Operating System
MEMORY DUAL CHANNEL 1024MB (2X512) 533MH
MEDIA CARD READER 13-IN-1 INTERNAL
HARD DRIVE 250GB SERIAL ATA II 7200RPM

Any info would be much appreciated.

Are you sure you're going to the Dell small business site? I just tried this and it comes up as £149 +VAT + Delivery which comes to £198.58.

It will be a bit of an upgrade, but possibly not a whole order of magnitude better. You should see a little better performance with multiple applications (because of the extra memory), but the processor is a dual core (1MB of cache) compared to yours which is core2duo (2MB cache) so you'll probably see that actually being a little slower.
Overall this is a cracking machine for £198 but don't expect it to perform in a different league to what you already have.
BTW - I have a Vostro 200 E2200 (a dual core) and it gets a Vista Performance score of 5.1 for the processor and 4.8 for the memory, whereas my Vostro 200 E6750 (core2duo) gets scores of 5.5 for the processor and 5.9 for the memory.
