Oh Lordy, now i am confused !! too much choice
the extra few quid is not a problem, which do i go for ???? this one or the previous £213
#2
Seems very cheap whats a vista license £65 ? The pc, keyboard and mouse are only really costing. £140....
#3
Any quadcores going about Mike?
#4
Any particular reason for spamming with a number of different deals when really it should just be one?

Anyhoo Dell pay nowhere near £65 for a Vista licence and pay a lot less than you'd think for the other components so they'll still make a nice profit given they'll sell thousands of these things :)

I'd definately go for the £213 one...1GB extra RAM and the option to downgrade to XP..

You find me 3 "go to deal" buttons for one thread and I will put them all in the same thread.

306maxi your an eejut.
this guy finds bargains and posts them on here. if it was me i would never post on here i'd just buy them myslef and knock en out on ebay. have some respect.

You could just tell people how to get there :) I've advised plenty of people how to find a particular machine on the Dell site and configure it to get the price they want.

When people see a number of things marked down on the Tesco site for instance they list them all in the same thread rather than posting 3 separate deals.

I've no problem with that, really. It's just that one thread would have sufficed. they're good deals (not for me as I build my own) and I would have certainly voted hot if it was all in one thread but posting 3 threads is just an attempt at getting 3 times as much heat.

i currently have a 2.4ghz processor. is 2.2ghz dual core better?

1) Looks to me like Mike has more heat and rep than he knows what to do with. I seriously doubt posting three threads is an attempts to top up further.

2) I have personally bought 4 PCs from Dell from links that he has posted. Whenever I need another PC I wait patiently for Mike to post up another Dell deal. As far as I am concerned there is no amount of heat and/or rep that I could give that would adequately show my appreciation.
#12
Thanks for that Mike. Bagged it. :-)

THis is the best deal imo as you get vista premium whereas the other you have to put upwith business. Most people don't need 3gb of ram anyway.
#13
Mike deserves respect. He could post each line of specification in a different thread and that would be fine for me. (maybe not)

Thanks for getting the point :) It's not a disrespect thing at all. Props to Mike for looking out for people and posting these deals, it's just that there's no need for there to be 3 of them that's all.

just cant ever again bringh myself to buy DELL. Had 4 Vostros and 2 Desktops each one had to be either replaced of fix. Terrible support, I Hate DELL!.

Listen, I'm not doubting the usefullness of his deals. They're easily cheaper than anything I could go out and build for myself but all I'm saying is that one thread covering all 3 deals would suffice and would leave more space for other deals!

I know what you mean. I've bought almost 20 dell machines in my life and pretty much every single one has developed some sort of fault.

However I don't agree about the customer service. I've found the CS to be very good, just as well really lol.

I personally wouldn't buy a Dell either but for the price you're paying you can't expect something that's 100% bulletproof.

I'll stick to my recipe of Asus board + Corsair RAM + Intel CPU + Sapphire graphics card + Antec case + WD/Seagate/Samsung HDD + logitech k/b and mouse = good reliable PC but for people who can't be bothered I honestly think these are good deals. IMHO HP/Compaq's business range of PC's is what I'd go for if I was buying an off the shelf unit :)
#19
Great deal but looking for quad core. Will buy in the sales me thinks...

Do you really need a quadcore though? I consider myself to be very much a power user and I don't have a quad core yet because I bought an E8400 which was cheaper than a Q6600 and yet for me runs faster when playing games and so on. I understand if you do video editing perhaps but 90% of people won't benefit one bit from having a quadcore as opposed to a decent dual core CPU.

Sorry to use CAPS like that.....but my son is after a machine capable of playing games such as Command and Conquer, COD series etc.

Is this or the previous one any use?

I realise it's not going to be cutting edge ( I've asked on other sites and all i got was techno babble about MUST have this...MUST spend that blahblah.... ) all I want is a reasonably priced base unit that can play games without smashing my fairly restricted cash limit.....

many thanks in advance....

Tops would be £320-350........... TBH he plays his 360 to death and I think the PC thing is only a fad....so I'm very reluctant to go overboard on this.

What are you doing to them?:whistling: I have had 2 Dell desktops at work around 8 at home (still got 3) and 5 or 6 laptops over the past 6-7 years and never had a problem.

One would ask why you've needed so many laptops and desktops?

Over the last 8 years I've only had 3 PC's at home.

Is that including a nice monitor? If it's including a (nice) monitor then you'll probably not get too much for your money but if you're going to spend 320-350 on the PC itself you'll get something nice enough.

I'm at work at the moment but if you get get something with an E8xxx or e7xxx series dual core processor, at least 2gb of ram and a good graphics card (I'd reccomend a HD4850 or HD4870 but if the budget doesn't stretch a HD3850 or HD3650 would be fine) he'll be able to play pretty much anything . If you spend a little bit more you could get a better processor and graphics card and make something which will blow the 360 into the dust and last for a long long time :)

You must have had the worst luck in history.

I've had 3 desktops and 1 laptop from Dell in the last 3 years. One of the desktops had a graphics card problem after 9 months and they sent out a replacement part next day delivery.

Other than that all 4 machines have served me well. I've had so many more problems with HP and Mesh desktops that I've bought. Other than building my own, Dell is where I'll get any PC's from.

As for the issue with Mike making 3 separate posts, I prefer it that way. Reading through 1 thread with the specs of 3 machines in it would just be annoying. A quick glance at the title of each one lets me know if it's something I'd be interested in.

This is a Pentium 4 Dual core NOT Core 2 duo.
There is a difference. This processor is rubbish.

Be aware of the difference.

Over the last 8 years I've only had 3 PC's at home.

3 members of the family 1pc, 1 laptop each and "good old" Mike keeps finding better value Dells.

You must have missed the days in the past when Mike used to post about 10 new deals at 5am on a Thursday morning. I used to get up early on deal Thursday just to see what he would come up with (sad I know!).

Anyhow it doesn't matter if Mike posts 3 or 30 deals he's saving us all money (well not for me as I only buy outlet goods now). In fact the more he posts the better as it means Paul will have to spend more keeping the site going and we cant have have him having too much money as if he gets into the 'Times 100 list' everybody will know who he is!:p

it's NOT a pentium 4 dual core. Intel have kept the Pentium brand for their lower end processors :)

It's good that your name matches your statement.
The processor is based on a dual cored version of the celeron 450. As for been rubbish far from it. It's a relatively new processor and for the cost basis that it was created it does very well in test against the AMD equivalent. No its not a patch on higher end C2D but is in fact on benchmarks is the closest to the equivalent clock speed C2D (E4500) of the entire dual core V C2D range.

Don't think 360's comments are going to make the slightest bit of difference to Mike anyway as he's been doing it for like 3 years now! In fact he's probably chuckling to himself about some of the comments!
