Thanks for that memory find cibarious, its not mentioned at all until checkout so I cant be 100% sure that you would get it, though its worth a mention for sure.
#7
I could be wrong but isnt this the same spec as a previous link at £198 ive just bought
Steve

Oh and don't forget QUIDCO folks at 5% net of VAT and delivery or is it not possible with this deal?

Does it have an E-Value code?

BTW MikeT, the memory offer is also mentioned in the summary panel on the right, if you scroll down.

It mentions the free memory upgrade on the summary section right of the 'linked to' page.

Example:

Also Includes
Resource DVD - (Diagnostics & Drivers)
English Documentation with UK/Irish Power Cord
D112022
Vostro Desktop Order - UK
1Yr Basic Warranty - Next Business Day
Dell Internet Order
Free memory upgrade from 2048MB to 3072MB

So maybe although a mistake, people may have a good chance of getting this system with 3072MB RAM.

Just remember Dual-Core isn't the same as Core 2 Duo

nice price for the system + xp/vista tho!
#14
This is certainly no to hot!

I bought a C2D system with 2GB/500GB/all else for around this money last christmas from a deal posted here!

A year later and we're paying £237 for a core duo?
#15
£225.60 if you just choose Vista as the O/S

Bought the same spec a few weeks ago for a bit less.

There have been better Dell deals than this in recent months.

I think we may have seen the back of the "better deals" for some time to come, my guess is the state of the £&$ isnt helping Dell or any other manufacturer purchase in China.

Not bad for the money

I agree - another example of the parlous state of the economy finally impacting on our balance of trade deficit! And no more decent deals :(

Could some of you gamers please tell me what this system would need adding to run Call of duty 4?
The reason I ask is that a friend purchased a similar spec PC around 6 months back but didn't go for any graphics card upgrade, he has just purchased Call of Duty 4 to find after waiting 20 mins to install that a compatible graphics card wasn't found! (I did try to get him to upgrade when purchasing).

Therefore which Graphics card would you recommend for his Vostro 200 desktop?
Or with the Graphics card would it still be slugish?

I havent got his full spec, but its around 6months old with Vista Home, 3gb Memory etc, I can find out full spec if that would help further?
Thanks guys.

HD4670 for £56 is a great upgrade, if only you could overclock these CPUs (which are COre 2 DUos rebranded with a little less cache that makes no difference) then a 8800GT or 4850 woud be better. :)

That's to redline - go for a 4670 - won't need an PSU upgrade, and with a chip like this and 2GB+ of DDR2, it will work great :)

Hope I've helped :)
#22
Yup a 4670 would be the perfect upgrade, nice and cheap and no worries about the PSU being pushed past its limits due to its very low power draw.

These chips are begging to be overclocked but as that's not possible in a Dell machine its probably not worth your while going with an 8800GT or 4850. Still, with the 4670 you'd have a nicely balanced, low power draw, decent gaming machine that is still a noticeable notch above the PS3 and 360. COD4 will run as smooth as butter.

I bought quad version for 299 and upgraded myself to 4gb for £27 and it flies - and I am technophobic

You can put in a more powerful video card if you really want to, the power supply can take it, but you will use up your remaining two power leads, and you need SATA to Molex cable convertors too.
I have a 7600GT in one of these and it works fine - no power requirements and totally silent - pick them up on ebay new for about £30-£35 if you want cheapness. I also have a 9800GT in another of these, and that really flies, although that card needs a power connection but my system handles it with no probs. And both of these machines are running 22" monitors at 1680*1050.

Cheers to the original poster...

Unit now has upgraded cpu Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core Processor E2200 (2.20GHz, 800MHz, 1MB cache) for free. Price remains the same.
Looks like it has 2gig of ram.

Note: Now also available on the Home site but at £249 so still cheaper at £237 on Small business.
[mod]#29
Now has 3gig of ram as well as the better cpu.
