A good deal for a slim tower vostro here, complete with 500GB Hard drive space and a 256mb ATI graphics card. To achieve the stated price upgrade to the 500GB HDD (£4.50). Vista Business Or XP Pro Available Also. Would recommend Vista as you can then request a copy of XP direct from dell.

Please reduce the warranty to minimum.

These are really small and only take low profile cards so be warned if you want to upgrade to a serious gaming card.
Very good price for this spec I think. Hot
#3
Cold voters please xplain why you did so. Is there a better deal available?
#4
Hot for me, seems like a good deal.

Believe it has to be £299 before VAT to qualify for free delivery.

It has to be £299 excluding delivery, so make sure that the price shown is £359 or more and when you add it to the basket, the price will drop by £60

Can you explain how to get the xp cds from dell if you buy this with vista?

thanks :)

Thanks for this spot: did a bit more exploring on the Dell site and found this almost identical deal on a full-size Vostro base unit including a 19" monitor.

http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?b=&c=uk&cs=ukbsdt1&kc=D4X20003&l=en&m_30=138820&oc=D022012&rbc=D022012&s=bsd

Only difference seems to be the graphics card 128MB HD 2400 pro instead of 256Mb. Vista Home Premium instead of Business and a 19" monitor for an extra £75.

Just ordered this. Anything I'm missing???

I emailed them and was told to phone technical support. I called them and told them that there were no drivers for my printer/scanner and could I have the XP Pro downgrade and I received it 2 days later at no cost.

Price always showing: Includes VAT & Shipping no matter what the customisation.
There's no option to add another burner.
#16
If you need a monitor note that the Dell free collection kicks in to reduce the price of their 19" basic monitor to under £100 and give a delivered price of £374.83.

Might be worth updating the 1st post to show this option?

You’re paying an extra £75 for a 19” monitor with only a 1 year warranty and a reduced spec computer.
It doesn’t appeal to me but that doesn’t make it a bad deal. I’d rather go with Vista Business so I can downgrade to XP Pro and buy a 20” TFT with a full warranty; I bought a HP with DVI/D-Sub and a 4 year on-site warranty direct from them for £125 after discounts.

You must be aware of the free delivery option kicking in at £299 (ex VAT). Vista Premium is typically £30 cheaper than Business with Dell (but may be the most appropriate choice). You could get a better graphics card and the same monitor for £99 with this slimline PC - see my earlier post.

As the offer you found and ordered is in the Business section, your consumer rights will be restricted, e.g. you can't return the PC (for free I think) within the cooling off period under the Distance Selling Regs... if you can change your mind, so you must be happy to buy this offer. I'm sure Mike T can explain this bit more clearly. Mike?
