Excellent deal! And excellent first post. It may be worth adding extra 1GB of RAM for under £30.

Could one of the mods change the title to say X3100 integrated graphics, please? The X1300 is paid extra.

I believe this one is a much better deal.

Edit: Ah haven't checked it recently so the above linked deal now comes to £258.57 which brings the two deals closer in terms of value for money.

Unless you have some dying need for a slim case, or vista business/ xp pro but then it's only £58 to upgrade should you want to take that route with the other deal. You'd get an extra gig of ram, an extra 70gb hard drive space and a better graphics card for only.

I guess the decider would be whether you want xp home or whether you want vista ultimate/ xp pro.

That deal now comes to £258.57 and has a 256MB NVIIDA® GeForce® 8300GS Turbocache graphics card.
Both have 320gb hard drive.
As you say the decider is if you prefer to have a slim case and vista business.
You can upgrade to 2gb of memory for £25 making the total £265.62

To clarify, for those who want vista business (or ultimate) the OPs post offers slightly better value than the popular post you quote -when specs are matched. It will be a few pounds cheaper and include a card reader.

I guess it would be of more interest to those that want vista business but will be ok with intergrated graphics (or might want to buy their own) and for those who prefer the slim case.

It might be possible to swap vista business for premium on the phone.

Good find

Seems like a good price but the it's an ugly case.

The impression I get from here is that most people find the ST the more attractive case.

Business doesn't have media center or streaming ,instead has business networking remote PC, and backup stuff. But it has aero which imo is the best bit of Vista over XP. Even if it sucks compared to Ubuntu Beryl and soon Compiz Fusion in Gutsy Gibbon!

Aplogies if I'm asking stupid questions but is it possible to upgrade the graphics card on this later?

I use the computer for surfing, playing poker and occasionally watching the odd live sports stream. is this system okay for this? I would be choosing the xp pro over vista.

thanks for any help.

Papa.

Yes it is possible. You could get an XFX 8400GS plus low profile bracket, a Peak 8500GT (low profile bracket included) or you may be able to get an 8600GT low profile shortly. If noise is a problem, then you might be better getting the 8400GS as this is fanless. The other 2 cards have fans onboard.

More info re the 8600GT can be found here

Does anyone know if this comes with a gb network card ?
#11
Doesn't look like it I'm afraid:

Network: Integrated 10/100 network interface

Full case specs for anyone interested:

Could you add an 8600GT to this?

Halo
Could you add an 8600GT to this?

Would need to be a low profile card due to case sizes. Only company I know of manufacturing low profile 8600GT cards is Galaxy, but they don't have a European distributor as yet. See my earlier post.

I'm currently using xp home. can anybody please tell me how, I find out what graphics I currently have in my system?

The memory upgrade from 1gb to 2gb has gone up from £29 to £42.

...also the hard drive upgrade from 250gb to 320gb has gone up from £1.xx to £10.58.

So some value lost in this deal

If you use the e-value code to buy, you can get the original spec for £245.65
(1gb memory 320gb hard drive)

So still not a bad deal( until they change it again)

Have to agree with you, your fist post and it's utter nonsense. :viking: You cannot buy a similar machine to this anywhere for this price...until another Dell winner comes along.

If you can't post anything sensible then don't bother posting at all and until you come up with a substantially better offer than this don't vote it cold.

Dont need a warranty, just seemed odd that they told me it couldnt be fixed if something broke, surely thats a lie.

I don't think bonecase was saying that you need a warranty but rather that Dell sells a warranty with Vostro when 'it can't be fixed'!

Great deal OP. Just ordered one for my father in law - Don't think he believed I could replace his PC for this little money! Quidco works out as a nice wee bit of comission too. :)
