Not bad for this price.

Quite a good deal.
Best thing about this system is the CPU.
It is very overclockable.
3.2Ghz easily possible with no cooling problems.:)

remove the motherboard and replace with overclocking board of choice :)
Wish someone would come up with a new bios for Dells to make this much easier ....
#6
Still a good processor without overclocking,

Nice for the price, 6% Quidco available...i'm going to wait until they start shipping with Windows 7

May be worth the 4gb upgrade on RAM as it only has two slots and Crucial charge £62 for 2x2gb whereas the upgrade to 4gb from Dell is £50 + VAT so a couple of pounds cheaper

Don't most Dells have a BTX layout case as well? Makes it pretty challenging sometimes to find parts to fit...

I've a vosta 200 at home and it has a standard atx MB, my daughters 5150 has BTX. Not sure if all the vosto's use atx though.

there no O/S on that one

Doesn't come with XP or Vista

You are dead wrong there - When I try it through the crucial website, it comes out as £40.24

The faster 1066Mhz RAM is 62 quid, but the Dell stuff isn't the faster spec, that's for sure!
#15
Does anyone know if the X4500 allows dual monitors?

Thanks!

To answer my own question, it doesn't.

#21
I've priced this at £236.84. Are there any Dell discount codes around, please?
#22
Good deal, thanks! Also nihcaj is right about the crucial upgrade price- buying separately comes out as £62 but they offer a 2x2GB kit further down the page which I've ordered to go with this base unit :-)

I think you'll find the latest ones have switched back to an ATX motherboard layout. Best to check and in any case don't buy this if you want to put a new motherboard in - waste of time and money.

Don't know how you came to that price - It is still £229 !

There are Dell discount codes available, but they do not work on this deal

anyone can buy from business, where it asks for the company name put in HOME USER or you'll be losing your DSR protection. Why did you care what version of IE was on it, if you want a different version just load it - no big deal, but i'd expect it will come with IE7.

The Dell one is the better buy. Better processor (even though its probably still not VT enabled). Graphics not much between them. Neither have embedded HD decoding. As for the rest not much in it. (PB tend to have more reliability issues)

Well for one thing, even without considering the specification, the Packhard Bell is second-hand! Not a brand noted for it's quality even when new!

So what is the difference between buying from dell home and dell business?

Is it legal to buy from the business site if you don't actually have a business ?

Is there any differnce to the build or software on a business pc ?

thanks

Good Deal How Many Usb Ports ??
#32

will Dell likely be having anything like this on again? do they regularly up there prices and then decrease them?
