Coming up as £399 for me o.O Missing something? (Makes it even hotter)

Oops ex vat and shipping my bad.
#3
Shame can't remove the screen for more of a bargain...
#4
the previous one at £564 was with a Quad core Q8200 2.3GHz processor.
From what I noticed the prices of Dell computers do not change suddenly, but they do change the internal components or the configuration of the model.

Thanks

Hot! Hot ! Hot!

I would wait for Windows 7 though. Probably Microsoft will announce an upgrade program soon.

ordered thanks OP

i was looking at the vostro 220 slim tower deal last week (it had a 500gb hard drive & 3ghz processor, but this is a better value deal) - you just saved me about £100

It should be noted tho, that this PC will be absolutly useless for anyone who wants to play any sort of games, cause the graphics card is pretty hopeless. The only reason this system really has a graphics card i suspect, is so dell can do their usual and say "Dedicated Graphics Power", (Cough Cough on the power bit!) and put the price up quite a bit. Dell probably get these cards for about a fiver from ATi.

What do you expect when you get so much computer for so little money?

Besides, this system will be more than adequate for about 99% non gamers. If you are a gamer, buy a gaming machine and I can gurantee it'll cost alot more than this! The graphics card on this isn't bad if you don't play games. Infact its pretty good will run Vista with all the bells and whistle and play HD movies perfectly.

That starts sometime in June, not sure of the exact date.

Is this not a bit like pointing out that it would be absolutely useless as a toaster? :whistling:
Gamers will know its not a gaming machine - which would cost significantly more i would add.
Great machine for price - even if i cant use it as a toaster. Voted hot.
#12
even if its not a gaming machine now.. pretty easy to thru a gfx card in it and turn it into one
#13
Very nice bit of kit. I'd be all over it if it had Windows 7 -which I've been using and love :-D

I'm hoping they're going to have a free upgrade announcement before the Summer.

LOL, sorry but even with a top end card in this it's still a pretty poor spec for a games rig.

This clearly isn't for gamers. You get what you pay for and you can't expect anything close to a decent games rig from Dell and for < £500.

Hell for <£500 from Dell you can't even expect anything approaching a decent computer  LOL

i remember the days when i was into PC gaming, it was crazy the amount i was willing to spend to get a 10% performance increase and for the same money as a graphics card i could have gotten myself a console + games package - with the exception of strategy games i don't see the point of the PC as a gaming platform

i would have thouht you could cancel (or return the PC when you get it within 7 days)

i'm considering ringing up to upgrade the graphics card on the one i just orded to the ATI 3650

on a side note does anyone know if you can upgrade a graphics card on a vista computer? (or does vista lock you out, or force you buy another copy?)

A friend asked me to recommend a system a few days ago and I went for this:
Final price before quidco is 431. Although the screen is a little smaller, isn't this a better deal by having quad core? It hasn't been ordered yet... Am I missing something?

Windows 7 free upgrade program info:
Acer's UK MD let slip that Windows 7 was going to be available October 23rd and that anyone purchasing Vista 30 days before that would get a free upgrade:
http://www.pcr-online.biz/news/31538/Acer-exec-lets-slip-Windows-7-release-date

Also, Dell have said Windows 7 will be more expensive than XP and Vista were at launch:

If the leap from Vista to Win7 is as good as the leap from XP to Vista, I'd get it now and avoid the hassle. In fact, if it were possible, I'd get it last year before Vista (I see that XP is an option, but at a price!)
Also, does it not have an on-board wireless adaptor? WiFi seems to be extra (which also means one less available slot)

Well, there's a surprise.

Hot. Just bought it for £424.34 + quidco (note, minus 1p for remove norton anti virus trial fail) :D

gonna sell the monitor on and get a better graphics card. modest upgrade from a 3 year old sony vaio c series laptop with a broken screen. was full of loss.
#26
I'm afraid we'll have to wait for official info on 'free' upgrades. Microsoft will do their utmost to supress the info of course for obvious reasons but sellers will be shouting it as soon as they can.

OK, I am looking for good, not expensive Quad-Core desktop under 399 any ideas?

You can cancel but you cannot return it under DSR as they do not apply to business orders.

can you not call dell CS and ask for the screen to be removed ?
#32
great price, however, i will never buy dell again.

Bought a dell mini 2 months ago, the wifi has never worked and has given up completely. Tried ringing dell, i've even emailed them 5 times and never get a respond.

If anyone knows where i need to send my mini9 back to let me know. I am now in the process of taking dell through the small claims court for failure of their product.

Dell customer service stinks.:x

It should be noted tho, that this PC will be absolutly useless for anyone who wants to play any sort of games, cause the graphics card is pretty hopeless.

It wouldn't cost much (about £60) to rip out the 3450 and stick in a 4670 which will run near silent and won't need any additional power connector. I have a Vostro 220 with an E5200 processor with one of these in and I play games like Day of Defeat Source on a 1650x1080 22" screen at near full settings with no problems at all.
For people who aren't really into gaming this PC is a fabulous little deal. Heat added!
#34
does anyone know if the new ATI Radeon HD 4770 graphics card will work on this? (given it's only got a 300w PSU)

Does Vista Business come with Windows Media Centre?

I want to use WMC for the TV functionality and I can't see an option for Vista Home Premium (as it's a business deal I guess!).

Please could someone look at my earlier post in this thread and let me know why I shouldn't go for that instead? Cheers
