"Business" so no SOGA, just an FYI.

Seems a shame to spoil the machine by only fitting 1gig RAM. Not too impressed with Dell these days, better options if you look around. Ebuyer pcs offer quite a good deal. ALDI best option with 3 year warranty, but there has not been a desktop for some time now.

"Seems a shame to spoil the machine by only fitting 1gig RAM. Not too impressed with Dell these days" How true. Well - never been impressed with dell. Fitting a cd rom ,or even a dvd rom, is really pathetic nowadays -saving what? £1-£3??

Vostro = Dell's basic business line. If I'm a company, chances are my employees won't need a CD/DVD rom. 1GB is too low for most people probably, but, again some people it might be enough. If I'm buying 1000 of these, those few pounds saved on each machine add up.

SOGA does and will also apply if you don't enter a business name (enter your own) and select the appropriate use/destination on the US export question. You may have to push Dell a bit but there was a big thing 2-3 years ago where they accepted that the legislation did apply to consumers purchasing their business line items. As well, that's the law! If retailers could say, "this is a business deal", and escape - that would be a pointless,no?

With my last faux pas with Dell I'll never deal with them again!

Since the operation moved to Poland their service is total ****! And I agree with the other poster that the days of a decent spec for your money are long gone....better deals elsewhere now.

Store appears to be down the now, but depending on the PSU in this, could this not make a cheap home server?

Hi guys, would you please help me?

My Vostro 200 just packed up, all i get is an amber light when I now switch it on. I tried the various suggestions here - http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/vos200/en/slim_tower/om_en/html/trouble.htm#wp1043338 but with no joy :(

I'm thinking its probably easier to buy a new machine (perhaps this one) and port the memory, graphics card, hard disc etc into the new machine. Does anyone know where I can get the technical spec of this machine and find out if the memory (4 x 1Gb 2Rx8 PC2-5300U-555-12) will fit into this machine?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide me.

@don74uk

I'd use the memory configurator on http://www.crucial.com to check both computers and see if it'll work...
