This machine has a great spec including: a proper matt screen, 8-in-1 card reader, Express Card, Bluetooth and esata port for ultra fast backup. Furthermore, the price includes 3-year Dell pro-support, comprising next day on site repair and phone support for hardware AND software (including 3rd party), 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year. Calls are answered within two minutes.

The only thing that is missing is 64 bit Win 7 but I figure getting hold of 64bit upgrade may be possible for small outlay. Perhaps? In any case, there should be very little speed difference between a 64 and 32 bit system with the only real disadvantage being that usable memory is limited to 3GB.

As the base (pre-VAT) price for this e-value code (N0735S06) is £615, it needs something to push it over the £679 threshold to allow the £70 discount code. Being non-customisable, the only item that will do this is the 3-Year Pro Support Warranty at +£65, bringing the base price neatly to £680.

Basic configuration price : £615
3-Year Warranty: +£65
Discount coupon code: -£70
Intrinsic discount: -£126
Total pre-VAT cost: £484
VAT: +£84.70
Total cost: £568.70 (delivery is currently free for all fast-track configurations)

The coupon code for the £70 discount is: BC1G2JZ51V04M0 (configurations >£679.00 only)

Don't forget quidco too!
Dell Small/Medium Business gives 7% cashback. ( http://www.quidco.com/dell-small-medium-business/?ac ) though it's on the pre-VAT amount only.

Both the £126 discount and £70 vouchers expires at midnight on 14/09/10!

If you must have this as a 64 bit system, then you will need to select the Custom Options tab rather than the Fast Track one. The model N0935002 with i5-450M, W7, 64 bit, 4GB ram and basic 1-Year warranty comes to £768.45 (incl VAT and £70 discount). In other words, there's a big price difference between Fast Track and Custom machines!

are you sure this is for Vostro 3700? the e-value code shows vostro 3500
#2
Looks like a Vostro 3500, but it still looks like a HOT deal to me.
#3
Sorry, edited to show the correct model :3

15inch is vostro 3500 but the graphicas card is wrong its 310 not the better 330 in the 3700
bit of a copy paste post lol
#5
is the 3 year pro support an actual warranty? It seems to just be tech-support..
#6
Okay so I've worked out a slightly cheaper configuration:

Instead of adding the 3 year warranty at £65, add the 1Yr CompleteCare Theft Cover for £69. Bear with me!!

The pre VAT total comes to £488 instead of £484 but the Theft Cover is VAT exempt so the post VAT total comes to £564.78.

Not much in it but I'd prefer the theft insurance as opposed to the tech support.

Done, thanks! Bear in mind that this is the only one of the Fastrack 3500's (including the two more expensive models) that has discreet graphics.

Edit. there's loads of feedback about Vostro's over on notebook Review.

http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell-latitude-vostro-precision/

I read a post saying that it was possible to get an 64-bit upgrade CD from Dell free of charge (if you ask), but I have no way of confirming this at all

Very much so: Next day ON SITE by an engineer. For 3 years.
#9
It seems to imply that its a business-related servicing thing. Not a proper 3 year warranty

I'd read this before thinking this is as good a deal as you make it out to be. Pro Support isn't an actual warranty.

Having owned a Vostro Desktop model, I can confirm that the warranty is a proper warranty. That particular machine developed a fault and an engineer came to replace the mobo.
#12
Was it the exact same warranty? The 3 year ProSupport one? Because all the information I'm seeing seems to state that this is tech support for businesses. I wouldn't want to purchase it only for them to turn up at my flat and say they can't repair it because I've obviously lied about having a business.

It's a normal parts and labour warranty with added pro telephone support.

Take a look here:

"A repair and replacement parts service, if required after completion of Dell's problem diagnosis procedures"
#14
That page doesn't mention a single thing about ProSupport...

Dude, you don't have to be a business user to buy a small business model. Just write 'Home user' when it asks what your business name is and you will receive the full warranty and support just like business users- totally legit ;)

Yes, hope you don't mind me cutting and pasting some of your deal layout over to this :) I was seriously thinking about your one but decided in the end that the 17.3" was too big for me, even though I'd be mainly using it at home. Was waiting for a 15" to get a discreet gpu, which it didn't have at the time of your deal.

But when youchoose the middle one and choose customise and add the 3-year Pro warranty it goe sbelly up. The other two models on the right hand side work fine.
#25
Yes, you are right. I wonder if it's a bug or they actually pulled it. Perhaps they ran out of Geforce 310's (it was the only one of the 3500's to have the discreet GPU)?

Will expire deal.
#26
The Nvidia Gfx card is no longer viable for this laptop - expired. :(
#27
Which leads one to believe that it was a 'glitch' having the card available in the first place, bearing in mind none of the other 3500's have them- including the two more expensive ones.
