This ecode starts life as a £293.82 Delivered base unit with a cdrw and no graphics card, just on board graphics.
I have chosen to upgrade to 512MB nVidia® GeForce® 8800GT graphics card and 16x DVD +/- RW Drive while you may choose to do something different.

"And for the Nth time no I dont work for Dell"

how come you get so many dell deals?

Surely it's better to just buy a separate 8800gt for £104 from scan and add it to the deal i posted? Would be nearly £90 cheaper?

If you don't buy a Vostro with a graphics card you will almost certainly get one which only has SATA connectors on the power supply. If you then want to add a PCI-E graphics card in you will need to swap out the power supply.
I have a Vostro 200 and can't change my graphics card unless I change the power supply too.
I assume Dell use a different power supply if you order the 8800GT??

Agharta said on the other thread that the PSU on the 400 should all come with a 6 pin PCI E connector?

Sorry I missed that thread - maybe it's only the 200s that have a carp power supply. My bad, sorry.
In which case buy this base unit and get an 8800GT somewhere cheaper :)

I bought my parents a Vostro 400 with Intel integrated graphics and it has the 6 pin PCIe connector.
If you have a Vostro 200 you should be able to buy a converter cable that turns two SATA power cables into a PCIe 6 pin cable. They're probably hard to find as most of them on-sale are twin molex (IDE) to PCIe 6 pin.
