Link Dead Mike - what's difference between the 200 and 400 ?

Cheers
[mod]#3
Link works fine for me, try another browser?

Oh and the case is the same as the 200 but the 400 series has better cpu and graphics options

try THIS LINK.

Make sure you have cookies enabled (at least temporarily) for dell, else you'll get an error screen.

If I take off the monitor and change to 1-year warranty it comes out to £205.70 delivered.

You need to upgrade to a DVD burner to get the price to £217.

aint this better then the other deal posted like em....... few days ago? voted hot as this is a great price and i mean great. Similar to the price my dad paid for HP with similar spec(amd 5000x2, 2gb ram though) for £150 including cash back but this is a dell so again great price.

Voted hot.

Anyone know how noisy/quiet the Vostro's area?. ....and is there a noise difference between the Vostro 200 and 400?

Cheers

Cheers emasu, this link works no problem

I really dont know why some are reporting the go to deal not working, I have tested it on another notebook not used for hukd and it works fine there too in ffox even with a different isp.
The link is no different to all the others I use in my dell posts and they work for others.

I have redone the link in the OP so maybe that will work for you all ;-)

Mike, few questions for ya..

im looking for a gaming machine, whats the model/make of the motherboard of these dell's?
thinking of changing the cpu to duo 2.66mhz, and buying a seperate gfx card - 8800 GT
and 4gb memory at a later date.
would the psu be powerful enough for the GT? the duo 2.66 is easy overclocked, would the board
be compatible for this?

cheers in advance

Im guessing this has a 310w psu as did the other one posted a few days ago. I wouldnt expect an 8800 series card to run well on that, the gt takes 180w on load(or 190 roighly i think) that would leave only 130w to run both the motherboard, ram, cpu, hard drives etc. I have a 700Xclio in my rig, overkill probably but id say anywhere from 500-700w is good for a high end rig, dont cheap out on the psu get something like corsair

can we have a seperate category for dell deals by miket, i don't know if he works for them or something, but these very similar deals seem to be dominating the computer section, or maybe just limit it to one thread a week with all the deals in?

just ordered mine, thanks :)

If you had bothered to read MikeT's sig, in it he actually states he does NOT work for Dell.

I personally am quite happy for the Dell deals that Mike finds to remain in the main section of HUKD.

As for there being one thread a week - what happens if Dell pull a deal before the thread is released? Tthat would not be at all popular with people after a PC/laptop bargain that particular week and who have then missed the boat due to this new 'category'....

I say leave it as is it - "if it aint broke"....

I would have to disagree. If anything needs limited, it is the twonks who post 2,3,4,5 etc DVD's from the same company as separate "deals".

Keep up the great deals Mike, many people getting help from these.

I agree with Gertrude - sick of the same person listing the entire stock of a website. Pointless.
Dell deals are not usually accessible from the normal website and require an identification code, so am happy for them to be listed separately.
This is a good deal too.

Would this play the Sims 2 with it's X3100? also, anyone know the cheapest place to upgrade it's RAM?

play.com sells RAM cheap. I don't think Sims2 require too good a graphics card so the one in this system should be more than enough.

MikeT's posts are great. just need help to compare all these Dell deals, all look similar, it's damn hard for us(no-pc-guru) to figure out the best deal... :(

1GB would probably be okay. However, if you do want extra memory then a more cost efficient bet would be to buy a 2GB kit from www.crucial.com/uk for less than it would cost to upgrade the spec to 2GB on Dell's page (£30.54 as opposed to £41.12). Also, you'd still have the factory fitted 1GB of RAM, so you'd actually be making it up to 3GB. You can also get Quidco from Crucial.

No doubt you could probably get the memory cheaper elsewhere... but Crucial make it easy to buy the right thing.

Is the option to remove monitor no longer available?
[mod]#34
Dell have removed the option to remove the monitor now, marking expired
