apparently it has more drive bays / expansion capabilities and has better (lower) power consumption functionality...

Do you know what the above means please? Is that two operating systems installed as some kind of 'dual boot'?

I would make a guess that you can have it with XP Pro installed as the OS and they will also supply Vista Business on disk for you to install as an alternative OS.

To be 100% you should of course give Dell a call.

Would rather go for that personally especially with the keyboard.

Sorry mike but voted cold.

Thanks MikeT, you're right :)

I just found that it has to do with XP Vista transition & this is the link (at Dell US) that explains it

looks like you get both win xp cd and vista dvd, excellent, although only £10 on this option i have noticed dell charging £50 for this option on other systems :x

I think you are confusing this with the upgrade price to XP Pro from XP Home or Vista Basic. For Vista Business/Ultimate users the XP Pro disc has been free up until now but you needed to request it and install it yourself. The difference is that they will now pre-install it and include the Vista disc with your system. So it costs more now but you save a lot of time by not having to install XP yourself.

I was referring to the other dell deal below which is £40 plus vat for the same option

The £40 is actually £30 to upgrade to Vista Business from Home Premium plus an extra £10 if you want XP Pro pre-installed.
You only get the downgrade rights with Business and Ultimate so if you choose a system with Home you have to pay to upgrade Vista first then you get to choose if you want to pay the £10 premium for XP Pro pre-installed.
