Link is broken.

Okay, so is it this one?: http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?b=&c=uk&cs=ukbsdt1&kc=D4X43001&l=en&m_30=143659&oc=D014301&rbc=D014301&s=bsd

Then I'm guessing the deal is £349 > minus 20% > plus VAT.
Then free shipping on order over £329?

Already two posts using this code with slightly diff specs

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/588101/dell-vostro-430-core-i7-860-3gb-ddr?t=588101

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/588750/dell-intel-core-i7-860-2-8mhz-6gb-d?t=588750

both expired yesterday when code stopped working, but one up again and the other awaiting mod action

link to Vostro 430
http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/vostro-430?c=uk&l=en&s=bsd&cs=ukbsdt1

I went for £499 i7 and added 4gig ram option for £30. Also added wireless keyboard mouse £14 as it actually only adds £4 due to a glitch. Also poss topcash quidco.

Don't think your link has 4 gig ram.

No prob. Just thought people would read other threads as there is some useful info on them. Can't have too many pointers to a deal this good.

you need to select 4gig when customizing. just checked and the price is correct.

hot from me.

it might be worth selecting 64 bit windows if you're going for 4 gig of ram. it doesn't cost anything.

It only has a DVD-ROM and it’s not possible to upgrade to a DVD burner with Dell but you can buy one elsewhere for £15 to £20.

The 160GB HDD can be upgraded although beyond 250GB (£10 + Vat) the prices are too much so you’d be better off with one of the other Vostro 430 deals.

The deal at £398.56 comes with 320gb hard drive not 160gb - I know its not massive but isnt that bad and can easily be upgraded later or even another one added
In addition it does come with 16X DVD+/- RW Optical Drive for Win 7 [Included in Price]

Thanks, I followed the link above that MBeeching gave which was incorrect which is why I had the wrong info.
320GB is fine for most people I would think!

sweet deal compared to building your own in purely cost terms

mobo ram cpu and cooling fan from scan on the 'specials' page is £350.14 you would still need case psu gpu h/d and dvdrw to match this deal

heat added

Thanks for that - I agree at this price I cant think for the life of me why you would want to build your own. Gonna cost you at least another £100. Still I suppose if you have the money and time and enjoy building systems then I can see the attraction.
Rep added to you Pete - cos you need it building yet another system :whistling:

the main reason for me would be gaming as you get to choose your own graphics card and power supply instead of the kak that dell lump on you. also the option to overclock is another reason.

but if you're after a nice fast pc to do general every day stuff on, this is a great deal.

Wasnt meant to be a dig at those who build their own systems. Its just that I know user 52919 and know he is spending a good deal more self building and is somewhat gutted at this deal. Just publicly taking the p**s out of him really. I know he will understand. I'm sure I will get a response soon from him.

I'm looking at this deal with the 21.5" monitor added.

With the coupon M1?3S7XDD0??T6 for 20% off it's coming in at £505.72

Getting 20% off the monitor seems to make it reasonable value.

Quidco discount on top of that.

I might up he RAM to 3GB for another £15 though

Keep in mind that monitors typically come with a 3 year on-site warranty when bought alone but buying it with a PC means the warranty will be the same as for the PC.

Open a topcashback account as you get £18 and 5%, better than quidco and no £5 fee. I still tend to use Quidco most most other buys though.

I started a thread with respect to a WiFi adaptor as I guess most people didn't opt for the £50 option that Dell offered.

I'd appreciate any advice, suggestions or alternatives to the list I compiled.

Cheers
