It's because people are jealous that they can't afford the non-refurb. People that buy macs know that:
1. They get top level support, and can get their laptop seen to/fixed/repaired if needed in their local Apple retail store. Something you cannot get from any other laptop manufacturer.
2. Their Mac will depreciate far less than any other latop.
3. The build is far superior to that of any other laptop.
4. The trackpad is an incredible experience, something that no other laptop has ever achieved.
5. You can boot Windows on OSX (for those that still want/need to run it), and it will still outperform any other laptop with Windows installed as stock.
EDIT: Oh and 6. For the specs that Apple offer in their top of the range Macbook Pro retina, they are cheapest out of any manufacturer.
Stick with your cheap OEM windows laptops with a 2 year expiry date, I'll stick with my Retina Macbook Pro that will probably still be top of it's game in 4 years time.

Thanks!!! Looks like I'm SOLD :)

You may find these are just sell through rather than refurbs to make way for the IvyBridge CPU's.
Just wondering though, how does the Intel HD Graphics 3000 compare to a first gen XPS 17 (Geforce 445M)?

It'll do HD youtube etc. without a problem but anything by Nvidia/ATI is bound to be better if you want to do anything gaming wise.
In before the 'get a netbook' comments that you usually get on macbook air threads.

lol @ the useless comment.
GT445M is much more powerful than HD3000, but they can't be really compared, just as you can't compare 13" laptop with 17".
did you notice the word Ultrabook in the title? That's what you pay for.

I'd imagine the 445M would be much better. The XPS 17 and the XPS 13 are extremely different. If you need a portable and light notebook, the XPS 13 is the obvious candidate. If you do note care particularly about portability, you should probably look elsewhere.
what laptop are you talking about?

Am I getting trolled all day or are people incapable of quoting from an original source?

don't you have anything better to do rather than posting useless comments? (no need to answer that)
