This is the new sandybridge laptop, not cheap but someone might find this usefull.

To get this price you will need to get something cheap, in this case I upgraded the wireless card for £5 and used code DZ1KJ2MJTC402S to get 10% off

ouch, can get this lower spec (<700quid) also and now with 1080p for 17inch so pretty cool.
graphics card also seems independent of cpu now

Translation required. I can't work out if you are praising or criticising.

********************************************************************************

****Note****

You don't need to add another component to get the discount. The code works on the basic spec and gives a price of £811.09. I believe the code you have given is a 10% off an £899 or more laptop, but the discount is off the original price, which is over £899.

Top Cashback is better than Quidco for this. Cashback is 7%, where as Quidco appears to be 6%, though the info given is not very clear. I have never had any cashback problems with Dell.

neither am i :)
just stating they start at a more reasonable 650 than this thread suggests
before you had to take an i7 to get the better graphics now you dont - better
before you could only have a 1600*900 screen, now you can get a 3d 1080p one - better
not sure on the relative powers though of the cheaper new gen vs the higher old gen but if looking at an old model on outlet or even new its worth checking even these basic models to see.

Erm I'm not being cheeky but, is English your first language?

Err, this will be with the B2 Stepping of the Cougar Point chipset. OK if you don't start adding extra SATA drives I guess but I would still wait till the B3 Step parts start shipping...sometime in April for volume.

thought that was one of my coherent ramblings.
perhaps was the 'excitement'

very interested in this but having trouble with the website on my netbook, I think its a Java problem, can someone confirm you can upgrade the screen beyond 1600x900, if so how much more will this cost?

the one time I did use this website to design a spec I found the RAM upgrades were outrageously expensive, is that the case with this and if so would a trip to Crucial.com be ok?

Last question (for now) does this have 2 HD slots and is one free?

Do these still have a light up keyboard? Mainly asking as a friend won some cash and wanted to upgrade his laptop to one that the keyboard lights up as he DJ's a bit

already confirmed screen resolution option,
17.3" HD+ WLED True-Life (1600x900) with 2.0 Mega Pixel Integrated Camera [Included in Price
17.3 FHD 3D WLED TL (1920x1080) 1080p with 2.0 Mega Pixel Integrated Camera [add £190.00 or £9/month1]

ram is usually better coming form crucial

no options for a second hard drive - not sure there as last gen did

"LED lights
Palmrest: battery indicator, wireless and caps lock; hinge: hard drive activity and battery charge"

The Alienware ones do I think.

17.3 FHD 3D WLED TL (1920x1080) 1080p with 2.0 Mega Pixel Integrated Camera [add £190.00 or £9/month1]

£190 is a lot more for the screen, I don't want 3D just a good quality high res screen.

I would buy it at 700gbp but 800+ is a bit too much... the old XPS 17 with i7 740QM were abt 700ish...

since when? an older model equipped with i5 is more than that
there are new models from 650 that may suit you better
seems a bit ironic you just posted this exact model as a hot deal but here you say its too expensive.

Just brought one of the i7 2630k laptops with 555m graphics...

Should be £757 after top cash back providing dell pays out...
#16
Well I went for this one (with the 3D screen in the end, its still a lot more tho) I've uped the HD/wifi and added the TV tuner, the total came to £1050ish before Quidco.

I phoned Crucial as they didn't list the L702X, they guessed the same RAM as the L701X will be fine and 8gb (2x4) is about £73 (vastly better than the £290 Dell are charging!) however they couldn't find a 16gb (2x8) pair, I guessing I'm going to have to wait, which is fine as my est delivery date is 21st March....

yeah my delivery date is the 21st of march as well however after speaking to a dell rep you can expect it to come in 7-10 working day's. He said that there is a mistake on the system

lol... I didn't think this was gonna make a 1000degree post... Its a good deal, a little bit on the expensive side considering how Sandy Bridge cpus are the most affordable ever... I would wait for these to drop a bit... and they will...
#19
Yeah but they'll drop because something better will be out, and there always will be, I've been waiting 6 months, at some point you have to jump!
