oh and i need to point out that this beast is also WIRELESS ...and loads of software for freeeeeeeeee...
#2
would the system be kept cool enough to run the higher end games.
#3
Or pay £500 less and get this (admittedly lower specification) Quad core Medion from Tescos:

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.202-2819.aspx

Described more fully here....

http://www.absolutegadget.com/200712301006/news/personal-computing/medion-quad-core-hits-tesco.html

Out of stock at Tescos online, but plenty stacked high at Tescos Kingsway Dundee.

Bear in mind that lots of games only utilise one processor core, so the CPU would not be as good as a faster and cheaper dual core processor. The CPU lets the whole thing down a bit.
#5
people are voting this cold becuase they cant be bothered to look at the specs...it should cost near £1550....dont know what the guy in previous message saying that Quad core is no where near as good as core duo...what bleeemin planet are you from m8....4 cores is better than 2 ...and you do use all 4 cores as i have had a quad core and the system takes a bit of each core to balance the system ....i had a lower spec xps 420 2 weeks ago which was a quad core and it flew ...put a divx file film to dvd in 12 mins...and the film was 2 hours long...and it used all 4 cores ..not 2 ....but 4..
#6
oh and if you want to know why i sent it back ..i sent it back becuase i wasnt told i couldnt upgrade the graphics card with the low power supply that was in the system....but it was very very fast ...and got an index score of 5,7

yes the system would be kept cool enough if you seen the size of the cooling rig inside the xps 420....

#9
hi just put in basket added 10% and it comes up at £899.11 plus quidco deal sounds a bit better

Dell is having problems with this ecode atm, click through from the first post go to home page and use the ecode finder to get 307-D01X406
Remember that the OP has increased the warranty from 1yr to 3yrs so the final price will be lower unless you do the same.
#12
is this a good deal mike, so many options floating about at the moment, struggling to pick one they all seem good!
#13
i am very tempted but as a games machine will it cut it now and in years to come be suitable for upgrade:thumbsup:

If you want the security of 3yrs warranty I suppose its a reasonable buy but its lots of money.
Personally I always go for 1yr warranty and go back for more towards the end of the first year if I feel I need it, dell are quite happy to quote you for extending warranty then, plus you know then if you want to keep it for longer.
Its the ecode with most money off in the range and if you dont upgrade the warranty it looks better in my eyes at £899.;-)
Having said that an extra 2yrs support for just over £100 is good value.
It does seem to have all the bells and whistles doesnt it and if you are happy to spend 1k on a base unit only [shivers] its looking good.

fixed the link to dell now killswitch

Looks like the TV card/accelerator is a usb part from the "learn more" pop up page.

Backup through dell datasafe is just £10 more.

Chosing the ex110 wireless keyboard and 1yr warranty makes the final price £898.89

thanks for fixing the link mikeT...im definatly going to buy this system as when i build another without the blu-ray drive it actualy costs more...or if i chose the lowst xps 420 then add the blu-ray it still costs more and that only has an 8800Gt...i would love to know more about there warranty as in if i dont purchase now is it going to cost me an arm and a leg to buy it a year from now ???...i still think this is a wounderfull deal even if people are voting this ice cold...i think the price is putting alot of people off...maybe you can revise the deal and leave out the warranty m8...maybe people will look into it more and vote it hot...and also that data safe sounds interesting....thanks for your help mikeT you are the man...

i would also like to know why it costs an extra £20 to add a DVD Drive to the blu-ray...surely it cant just be a dvd drive...these are pennys now...and when you build a system with just 16Xdvd rw...it only costs an extra £10 to have another 48x cdrw....

....oh and everythime i go into live chat with dell there is never anyone there to chat to...like now for instance where im actualy in the opening time..
