Hot from me.

Nice deal, I just bought a Vostra from the Outlet last week for £480 with 4GB RAM and a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 processor, I don't know if I should be regretting that now
#4
wow! hot hot hot. Would get one if I could afford it :P
#5
Very nice spec for the price. I spent a lot more on my build and that only houses a 5850.
#6
Very nice!
#7
Defo hot with quidco:thumbsup:

Cant believe that this works out cheaper than the exact same spec machine on dell.com (usa) by around £40, and thats with VAT and delivery!
Been looking for a high spec pre-built for a while and the current quidco promo tipped me over the edge.
#9
Are you certain using the code for discount won't invalidate Quidco?

Codes for dell usually work with quidco. Never had a problem.

Without sounding like a bore....the main thread image is a tad misleading showing the monitor. This is still a good deal, but I thought for a second it was a smoking one with a monitor!!

Heat added. I take it nobody posting knows of a cheaper alternative. Have looked at performance tests for processor and graphics card and both score very well.

Couldn't believe it didn't come with a wireless internet adapter and bluetooth, surely that is basic stuff all computers should have!!

Main image changed

Hard to find any images of the 7100 yet as its just launched.

Sorry, didn't mean to be a pain, thought it might stop the brigade of people out there who vote cote if the thread is even slightly misleading!

Did you buy this yourself OP? I am seriously considering buying this as it seems a good deal, however, just slightly concerned that I will end up spending over £1k as I will need to buy a monitor and a few upgrades

Not a pain at all. Yes placed the order yesterday, but the estimated delivery date is the 4th June! Bit of a delay on this one it seems! Yep I also need a new monitor so let me know if you find any bargains.
Been looking for a proper good desktop for ages, and this one has a awesome graphics card, so with quidco this weekend I couldnt really say no!

Yeah will do, I was looking at the 21" Full HD Dell monitors and hoping they qualify for 10% off too. Might be a tad noobish question, how easy do you think this will be to upgrade in the future. I know I will want a BR Read and Write drive at some point, I am assuming PC' haven't changed much since my last good PC that the space provided allows for easy upgrades?

AMD have out done themselves this time, a fight-back against Intels dominance over the last couple of years in the desktop CPU market.

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/31407-amd-phenom-ii-x6-1055t-1090t-six-core-processors-review-11.html

Ok the AMD X6 1055HT is not as fast as the Core i5 750 but costs £50 less. Compared to the £1000 Intel core i7 980X 6-core cpu which intel themselves have said..."confessed that the Core i7-980X Extreme Edition was a low quantity, high performance device aimed specifically at gamers and content editors that simply refuse to live anywhere other than on the cutting edge".

Ok the AMD chip is 45nm but potentially OC'ed to extremes. Bang-for-buck.
#17
how does this compare to the intel i7?
#18
id quite like to know that as well...

looks like the i7 is still the faster processor

Great review with comparison here which shows that on many benchmarks its beats some of the lower clocked i7 processors.

http://www.guru3d.com/article/phenom-ii-x6-1055t-1090t-review/1

From many review sites it is suggested that the 1055t is as good as the Core i7 860.

Agreed with Bryan839, diregarding the £170 for an i7 920, AMD wins the value for money contest.

Although the AMD triple cores are supposed to be better value for the monies [according to Toms Hardware Best Gaming CPUs For The Money: May 2010 ] Someone correct me if they think otherwise =D
#22
Great value for money, heat added, ordered.

Many Thanks! :-)

good processor, more ram and blu ray but inferior graphics card (nvidia gts 240)

Update...

Quiet running pc, nice looking...

Tried and tested with:
Left4dead 2 60+ fps
Battlefield Bad Company 2 avg 55fps
DOD Source avg 120fps

...played at full 1920x1080 resolution with everything on and smooth as you like :-)

Heaven Benchmark DX11 (think Crysis for Benchmark programs - really tests system) avg 35fps (smooth)

its fair to say I'm happy with the performance!

BTW - I usually build my own pc's, but took a punt on this as the bang for buck was so good.
#33
Thanks - just ordered one with all the discounts.
#34
Well I still can't get mine to display correctly on my monitor.

Should be 1680 x 1050, by the best I can seem to get is 1400 x 900 and it's driving me nuts.

Anyone know where I'm going wrong?.

the monitor is a Samsung 2053BW.

Really fed up.
#35
obvious thing to do is to update your graphic drivers

Blimey. I'm tempted by it and I don't do desktops. :whistling:

Thats not bad, i hate pre builds but you will be paying around £600-800 anyway for a pc like that.

Only thing i dont get is why the hell they used 6gb of ram! AMD can only do dual channel so the 6gb isnt even running in dual channel because it goes up in multiples of 2 like 1gb 2gb 4gb 8gb. 6gb is tri channel.

I bet the motherboard has a locked out bios, that means over clocking will be limited or non-existent. Also upgrading or even opening the case can sometimes void the warranty.

EDIT: IMHO i7 you will not notice the difference at all, its obviously faster but for gaming and general tasks AMD's do fine and you will notice a bigger improvement with a better GPU. The only 6 core intel is an i7 980X and it costs around £800 the x6 AMDs are only £150 ish for the non BE version.

God i hate laptops unless you need it for work. Integrated graphics are horrible.
#38
This price is awesome and certainly noone can self-make this cheaper (although as per usual, if you did make it at a cost of £100-200 extra, you'd end up with MUCH better components than what Dell will provide).

Thanks, sorted now.

It was a faulty monitor.

Really happy with pc.
