Jump to unread Post a Commentbut for a new laptop paying an extra 100 odd quid is worth it. outlet ones are refurbs and prone to fail. ive had some that have got faulty from the outlet.
but never the less i would still think they have decent laptops and the service is great if one does get faulty!
Seems to have handled the majority of 3D games I've thrown at mine since getting it last year very nicely.
Chances are you're not getting playable framerates on something like Skyrim with an HD4000 on high settings or above. I get at least 30fps at all times.
If you're expecting ultra settings with all DX11 stuff switched on then the card will disappoint you, but if you want a console like experience in a portable device then it's quite brilliant.

Rubbish, they are no different to new laptops. They are 99% cancelled or incorrect orders. I have bought probably about 20 over the last couple of years and not one has showed any sign of any use. They also have exactly the same warranty.
Also i bought 25 netbooks off there once for a school i work at - they can't all be faulty returns especially when the serial numbers follow on......as i said they are cancelled/overorders.
Dell Outlet everytime if you can find the same spec or better for cheaper.
That's either an L702x or a 540m, they don't make the L502x with the 555m.
Hi Kirk,
Can you share the link of the exact model that you have just mentioned? And do you dual boot with OS X or you are running solely on OS X?
Thanks

Yer can only go with my experiance. Have used it once and got an XPS 17 1st gen. Using it now too and had it over a year, and was is immaculate condition when I got it. Having researched the outlet beforehand, I discovered that 99% of people say they come looking new.
I wouldn't pay £100 more over the dell outlet, but I probably would for other refurbs I didn't know much about.

its a l502x with 540m. but its not 456ish. thats excl vat.
more like £547ish:
i would say its a much better option to buy one from the outlet.

That 1080p screen is a MASSIVE advantage. I'm considering swapping out my 1600x900 screen out of my XPS 17 for a 1080p one in the future.
Yep, my one literally hasn't moved in a year. It's the 17inch model which is just massive and heavy. I'd imagine the 15inch one to also be thick and heavy. Definitely not ideal if you're moving around a lot.
Also, I should add that it is pretty loud too. The Vostro I have is almost a silent fan in comparision to this one (even at idle). But the 15inch range could be different from the XPS 17. Just something to take into account if you want a silent laptop.

Do you have a link to one please. I've looked and always, Dell's site confounds me.
