The lower spec m1330 laptops don't have _great_ deals on at the moment, but this particular deal is very good as it includes the 128Gb SSD drive instead of the conventional hard disk.

The SSD would costs in the region of £250 to upgrade seperately. Not essential for everyone, but certainly a nice thing to have.

would this be good for cad, adobe and 3d work? im an architect and have been looking for a long while for a good laptop?

was looking for a cheaper one? any suggestions?

but i lov the 13.3screen for portablitly, i def dont need anything larger than 15.4 as il plug into monitor at home

In my opinion, for CAD / graphics work you should go with the faster CPU available. The T6400 in this deal would be OK, but you'd certainly benefit from the faster options available.

The graphics in this laptop is the low-end nVidia 8400M, but should be OK for your needs (typical CAD & graphics applications don't benefit _greatly_ from higher end graphics cards).

The 15" laptops generally have better deals, so you might want to look at them. For me though, 13.3 is a nice size.

It can be worth keeping your eye on the Dell outlet deals for these machines. I picked up this laptop with following differences, 250gb HDD, Integrated graphics, 2gb Ram and Vista 32bit for £399.

Is this a different design of nvidia card from 8400's that die after 10 months use?

http://icolor2.blogspot.com/2008/08/death-of-laptop-dell-m1330.html

http://en.community.dell.com/blogs/direct2dell/archive/2008/09/12/nvidia-gpu-update-limited-warranty-enhancement-details.aspx

Anyone got any links showing nvidia have altered the design?
