There'll be loads more of bargains on the Duo Cores over the next few months as dealers clear their stocks in readiness for Quad Cores
#3
Quad cores? I'm still managing with my single core :P
#4
yep, me too, it's totally overkill unless you're majorly into games............in which case you should probably be buying dedicated games consoles :?

No way! Some games just cannot be played on anything other than a PC. At least not with any skill or satisfaction.

Hmmm, im tempted! Might go for this. Thanks!

Alan Wake for the PC can use quad cores.

Not strictly speaking true. (techy stuff courtesy of working for the sauce company)The Kentifield's (Quad) are on the same roadmap as the Core 2 Duos and they are all on until way into Q3 next year at least. Intel currently have three dual core chips but only one product line will remain in 2007 - namely the Core 2. We'll end up with Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Extreme and Core 2 Quad. They all stay becuase they are all in the same manufacturing process. Yes we'll see deals on Pentium D, Core Solo and Core Duo but not Core 2 (duo, extreme or quad). Scared - you will be (as yoda says)

It might be an idea to wait a week or so before buying a Dell as they're almost certain to start shipping systems with Vista Express Upgrade coupons. Mesh have already started taking orders as of today.

Looks like the deal posted above allows you to upgrade via voucher to Vista Premium if you have MCE or Pro as part of the system OS.

It says to look here : www.dellvistaupgrade.productorder.com, but I went to www.dellvistaupgrade.com and it says the following:

Thank you for visiting www.dellvistaupgrade.com, to
redeem your Express Upgrade to Windows VistaTM.

If you purchased an eligible Vista Capable system on or after October 26, 2006 we anticipate you will be able to redeem your Express Upgrade to Windows VistaTM on this site beginning November 13, 2006.

Great processor, crap graphics card. Expect to add another £100+ to this price to replace the graphics with something worthwhile.

I'm pretty sure the graphics card, whilst quoted as coming with 256mb memory, actually has much less and leeches off of the system ram.

A lot of the lower end cards use this trick and hide behind fancy phrases such as "turbocache" and "hypermemory"

Having said that

http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=8265&category_id=256&manufacturer_id=0

is an excellent replacement card for just under £60.
