Dell's strong reputation, however, stems from a record of competent after sales service, which might or might not be a thing of the past but which, with businesses and others, counts for a lot. Though the power supplies they fit their XPS models are fairly cheap they are, unlike many resellers, not awful. One area where they often scrimp, particularly in their £800 or less money off deals and this applies to many other resellers also, is the motherboard, which limits your potential to upgrade at a later date. You might want to fit a K series Sandybridge and aftermarket cooler to overclock, but the motherboard doesn't have the hardware or bios options to get you there. It might not be compatible with the forthcoming Ivy Bridge CPUs. It will probably lack SSD/hard drive cacheing. It will probably lack connectivity. For many people these things are no sacrifice, though. As others have said, the price isn't great and the HD 7770 may count as new tech but the performance is poor compared to the ageing HD 6850. It is good to see a 256GB SSD drive in there. I dislike plastic cases but a lot of people like the look of the XPS and, if they get back to decent sub £700/£800 deals, I'm sure they will be seeing heat again... albeit I doubt they will be fitting those with Z68 or Z77 based chipset motherboards
Thanks for a real answer
