Come on guys this site is about deals and this is a good deal if you are into pasta and dont want to wait for your saucepan to boil or over cook your pasta!

If it was like the one I had it'll look great in the back of the garage with the breadmaker... Good price but as others have said a saucepan is less bother

If you make pasta a lot like me a Pasta cooker would be a worthwhile device and that price is very tempting.

to be fair I eat quite a bit of pasta and to be honest this was too much bother, how difficult is it to cook pasta anyway. Also it's difficult to appreciate from the pictures just how damn big it is

The main advantage of the pasta cooker over a regular saucepan is that it automatically lowers the pasta into the boiling water and drains it when finished ,so you can set and forget. There’s also a sauce-warmer which ensures that a hot sauce will be ready when the pasta is cooked.

I can see you won't be winning any Michelin stars any time soon! People who like pasta NOT like that in tins marked Heinz, are not being "overly fussy," they just know the difference between proper food and swill. Overcooked (and tinned) pasta is like eating slime.

Actually too big, so not enough room in my small kitchen, or I would be very tempted; but a surprisingly well rated gadget, as for saving money, seeing it heats water up by electricity, not a lot different to a kettle which you would use anyway, and as it stops overcooking, it may well do just that, a very little bit, but I think it might take a while to produce any "return," however it might also be potentially a bit safer, such as for not too young kids and for those with manual dexterity problems; also OK for cooking more than one batch using the same heated water too, like a proper pasta pot can, or like they do in restaurants by not having to drain the water into the sink every time.

They don't - in commercial kitchens, doing any trade in pasta they use something a bit like a large Bain-marie, with baskets. The idea there is, they don't need to reheat water from scratch, it is hot already, and each batch is cooked/heated as needed, not so dissimilar to the idea that this offers.

too right. I'd rather go by my own taste test then use up electric in a machine. come on, it only takes 3 minutes to cook fresh pasta :whistling:

ive got one for the last two years and im sorry to say it is brill. put the pasta in the basket set the timer and of it heats to the right temp and then lowers into the hot water. great when you are watching your favorite soap after a hard day at the factory. the pasta machine pings when its done and lifts the basket back up and drains the excess water off.

I have been out of intensive contact with the food industry for over ten years now, so I don't get involved with many commercial kitchens, but when I need the opinion of an expert on scraping a few plates, loading the odd dishwashers or buying a Doner kebabs, I will be first to ask you.

Another trolling expert added to the ignore list, it saves my eyesight not having to read more drivel :-(
