Info: At last, Japanese role playing fans across the country can get a taste of some hardcore, relentless Middle-Aged combat, courtesy of From Software and its infamous Demon's Souls adventure. You play as an unnamed warrior, clad in silver armour and wielding a mighty sword, determined to save humanity from the brink of destruction by the hands of a demon. See, many years prior to this era of terror and confusion, the monarch of the land of Boletaria, King Allant the XII, decided to go on a bit of a power trip. It wasn't enough to rule a land or a country, he wanted to control as much as he was able to. He discovers an ice shrine in the mountains called the Nexus, which granted him the power of the souls onto him and brought prosperity to the kingdom. Unfortunately, King Allant wanted a bit more than that, so he went back to the Nexus, only to awaken a long-forgotten evil called the Old One. And now the land is knee-deep in the dire consequences of his actions. If ever a fable could be made from a game, this would be the perfect inspiration. Many other champions from other lands adventured forth to slay the demon, but to no avail. Now it's your turn, and the traditional combat and level up system really adds to a sense of urgency to your gameplay. You have to watch every move you make, because the difficulty curve in Demon's Souls really makes you believe the land is powered by demons. This isn't your grandma's Wii sporting event, this is gaming role playing at its most distilled.

great game, but takes a minimum of 2hr shifts in a go

part timers need not apply

the game becomes so much more open once you beat the tower knight, if in trouble just bitch it out with archery or magic i mnot ashamed to say i have had to resort to the bow in some areas... not gna lie thoug i didnt even know magic existed for half the game

Really? You can play it in 5 minute sessions if you wanted to, unlike other games where you need to finish a level or get to a checkpoint not so with Demon's Souls you can save (by exiting) whenever, whereever.

Excellent game. Although not for the faint hearted if you don't stick with games don't bother! So hard at places it's unreal.

Think I just bought the last one, cheers !

Finished it last night. Personally, my favourite game on the PS3 and probably this generation. It's not really, really hard but it demands concentration and punishes complacency.

my bad you can literally play for 5mins, or even less if you wanted,

you would however make zero progress could maybe only benefit through getting a few souls and items...

the only way to progress in this thing is by unlocking the different areas of the map enroute to beating the bosses, your not gonna get near opening up a short cut on this game in 5 mins! hense my comment of about 2hrs (more in line with if you have not played the level before)

5 minute shifts will get u no where, how u gna progress by exiting every 5 mins? collect a few thousands souls, not even enough to level up at higher levels....unless ur on 2-2 and shortcutting down the pit to the flamelurker

I was just trying to be extreme when saying 5 minutes but really the game session length will have no bearing on anything. If you play for 5 minutes and take 100 steps towards your objective and exit then when you rejoin you will still be that 100 steps nearer to the goal. You won't have to start the level again.

The reason I replied to your comment is that I didn't want people to be put off "Demon's Souls" if they don't have gaming sessions which at least 2 hours in duration. This is a fantastic game and can be played by anyone regardless of how much time they have in each session.

surely if you go 100 steps then turn off or exit to the nexus, when you go back you just start at the same archstone with all the uglies back from the dead... unless im missing sumthing

p.s i could well be missing sumthing, like i said i didnt even know magic existed in this game till about half way through

Sorry dude but you are missing something.
You can quit whenever, when you restart all the enemies that were dead remain dead, ie everything is as you left it.
Of course you shouldn't return to Nexus, just quit and when you restart you will be where you were.

lol, so much in this game is just seriously never explained to you!! your just meant to know... i had no idea it worked like that, so if i jsut quite game after killing a few enemies and running up some steps when i load i would appear atop the steps with the enemies dead???

seems crazy but ill take your word for it, i totally thought it was open up a short cut or and archstone or you have achieved nothing....
