Just like Dragon's Lair but with better collision detection, well possibly not but probably going to cause you to take an axe to your shiny new PS3 Slim if you play it.

The cheapest available by a couple of quid but more importantly shipped from the EU so no customs and no dubious £8 handling charge.

Deluxe edition is about £12 more.

Hey Dan, apparently they don't have any EU publisher so I don't think it will be anytime soon. There are online features of this game and as far as I know the US version is locked to US servers (as the Asian version is locked to Asian servers).

That's not true, if you head over to AVF loads of guys their playing the Asian/English version and the online aspects of the game are working fine. From what I gather, you can see the souls of other players and where you see a blood mark is where they died. When they die they can leave messages as to what killed them giving you clues on how to proceed. I don't have the game but was following a thread where people were absolutely loving this title. Unfortunately it just seemed like a 'life consumer', which I can't afford right now.

I didn't mean that it wouldn't work. What I meant is that if you have the US version then you will be playing with US gamers and if you had the Asian version then you would be playing with Asian gamers.

He's right - The Asian Version locks you to asian servers. You can't play on US servers with any version other than the US one. But you can play online, it all still works.

Have been looking all over for somewhere to get the US version from. I'd you more heat for this post if I could!!!

Cheers. I have literally spent hours trying (& emailing) various companies (& Ebayers) to avoid the customs issue but didn't feel 100% sure with any of them. Please note that it isn't the customs VAT that I object to, it is the £8 "handling" charge.
I really wanted the deluxe version and videogameplus.ca seemed to be shipping the version with the extra art book whereas all the others didn't state that. In the end I felt the additional money wasn't worth it.

PS. The US version is going for £50 plus on Ebay, £60 plus for the deluxe version.

You need to add on postage

Also, the deluxe edition only comes with guidebook and slipcase - the artbook and CD are only available with pre-orders at certain US stores.

Didn't realise they charged postage, didn't see that and never used the site.

In regards to the Deluxe Edition only being sold with the Artbook & CD to Pre-Orders made at certain US-Stores, AxelMusic are descibing the item incorrectly then as the title clearly says:

Demon's Souls (DeLuxe Edition w / Artbook and Sountrack) PS3

Oh, I hadn't seen that bit in the item title - they must have copies with them then. Makes it a bit more attractive.

Unfortunately the increased weight of the special edition also increases postage costs to about a fiver.

Think I'm going to wait for a UK release anyway, as I have far too many unplayed games at the moment to warrant any expensive purchases.

I think generally there is some confusion on websites about what is actually shipped. The artbook & soundtrack, according to Amazon.com, are pre-order bonuses regardless of whether you order the Std or deluxe editions. There are items on ebay which suggest the same.
The deluxe edition is supposed to include an additional cover & 150page guide book.
***Of course I could be wrong***

As I stated earlier I would prefer the Deluxe version but I considered £12 more a little bit too much ... PLUS this item is being given to me as a xmas present so I couldn't ask for the more expensive one.
My other xmas present will be Uncharted 2....so no surprises for me but what a Chrimbo!

I've enjoyed playing this game but its definately not for the short tempered. It can become repetitive as save zones arent put in between levels and dying means you restart the whole level again. Its a great game but as the OP said; it may cause in increase in blood pressure.

Just about to preorder this for my fellas birthday in Nov.

Have come here looking for a free shipping code (alas sadly, there are none for games) and came across this thread.

I'n now gonna order the deluxe edition which includes the guide (you know, just in case :-D)

We love RPG's, and this one looks fab!

I did try finding some codes but AxelMusic don't seem to do them very often and none at the moment. This price though is the best on this side of the pond at the moment but judging from the temperature in here I guess people think it might get cheaper; difficult to say when it is an import.

Anyway there are a couple of videos (from Atlus) which show the games mechanics:

Good find thanks, ordered one for myself. Second best I could find was £40 and that was with a $CND to £GBP conversion.

The problem is you might get stung with customs. I emailed a few companies and CD-Wow was about the only next one which stated that they would give you an e-voucher if you were unlucky to get charged. I didn't much fancy an e-voucher though.

It;s also £37.99 at Movietyme http://www.movietyme.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=46260&osCsid=a9da243dba36617ab3ec75751a515fa9

Not sure if that works out any better for customs tax? Not used Movietyme for a few years but they used to post 2nd class from the UK?

Yeah but their FAQ states that you are liable for any customs and that they won't pay it if you get pinched. These guys ship from the EU so no tax.
As someone who rarely imports I just didn't want to run the risk.

I'm wondering whether it's worth the extra 13 quid for the special edition (well, it's only 7 pounds more expensive but the postage shoots up too). As far as I know it has a different cover and a short strategy guide........

I would like the guide but I'm think another £13 is a bit much, it is $10 extra in the US. Should you choose not to purchase the Deluxe version then apparently there is a very helpful Wiki index available at : http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/

I see that in the FAQ but on the main screen it states:
We ship every United Kingdom destined order from within the European Union. There are no additional customs or VAT expenses when ordering from our site.

No probs. I see CD-Wow who were selling this for £39.99 have now upped the price to £49.99 (deluxe is £56.99). A bit cheeky.

Ah Uncharted 2, just ordered a new 250 GB PS3 slim with this for £246 off another thread.

So my OH is gonna get the same pressies as you :p which is good cos i now know i'm choosing right

EDIT: The deluxe version is now not saying with artbook/cd anymore! Do you reckon they are now not gonna include it? When i ordered it was on :x

EDIT2: I went for the deluxe edition, and think the deluxe stratagy guide IS worth an extra £12 as it looks great as a gift set - plus i have a feeling we'll need the book at some point! This game looks..challenging :whistling:

I'm not convinced that we are going to get the artbook, regardless of version. The reason I say this is that this was a limited to a number of US retailers (Amazon etc..) and I just couldn't see AxelMusic being one of those. Of course I could be wrong and the truth may actually that the limited supply is now exhausted and any new orders won't get it...you still might and for this reason you could ask (& then complain if they say no) to AxelMusic.
I recently watched an "Unboxing" video on the net and the guide does look very good. There is wiki which I mentioned which is what I will have to use.
Unboxing video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rhlr1tAqljk

PS: You may also want to get your hands on Uncharted 1. It was the reason I purchased the PS3 a couple of years back and is a great game.
You can probably get it for a tenner.

Fab video - OMG i want it!

I'd look into this game since it does look fab but I know it would irritate me after around a week.

I guess it may take a few more days as it has to come from the states and then from Denmark.
A little concerning that it seems that getting stock maybe an issue:
http://www.justpushstart.com/2009/10/10/demons-souls-sold-out/

PLUS it is AxelMusics' number one PS3 seller.

Good luck.

Probably selling out as a stock allocation for one continent is being sold worldwide :)

Sorry that no-one seems to have received their copy...I feel bad for posting it now.

I see Axelmusic no longer has the deluxe version available although the standard version is still available to order.
#38

Finished with it? Judging from what I'm read you are never finished with Demon's Souls.
Anyway I've just read that Atlus have increased production as many retailers have been out of stock so here is hoping that it turns up soon.
In Lowestoft hey? I was one of the sad muppets that went to Asda at midnight to get Call of Duty 5 for £27, never again! They sold out to the person just in front of me, still haven't got it but probably would have sold it on Ebay anyway.
#40
yeah I remember that, I missed out tho as I preordered from Game and got it b4 release date. But my cousin made it to the Asda midnight launch and got a copy (maybe he was the one b4 you lol) Oh well, at least I got Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend to keep me occupied untill it arrives.

add my psn if ya want! Antmusic83
