Been waiting for this to go <£20 for a while on one of the trusted online shops, it finally has!! I've always had good service from Shopto, they do next day delivery. Looks like they're only taking pre-orders at the moment though until they get new stock

King Allant the XII, the last king of Boletaria, searched tirelessly to expand his might. The Nexus, a great ice shrine nestled in the mountains, bestowed the power of the souls onto him, bringing prosperity to his kingdom. Still unsated, he returned again to the Nexus, where he foolishly awakened the Old One from its eternal slumber. This long forgotten evil, now wrought upon Boletaria, plunged the realm into darkness and fog. A mighty demon horde poured into the kingdom, devouring the souls of men.

Champions from other realms learned of Boletaria's fate and sought to deliver the kingdom from evil; none would return from the cursed land. Called upon by a mysterious maiden in black, you go forth, the last hope for humanity in a place lost to demons and darkness...

Ultimate hardcore RPG challenge -- In this brutal land, death is inevitable, but not final. Combining the best features of an action game and RPG, you'll slice, smash, shoot, and ensorcel some of the most horrible, vicious enemies ever encountered. Are you strong enough to face the impossible and win?

Groundbreaking online capabilities -- Network features go far beyond any previous RPG, allowing players to leave hints for each other, replay death scenes, cooperatively revive dead players, or invade another player's game to wreak havoc. Not merely an add-on feature, multiplayer options are vast, and uniquely focused on changing and intensifying the single player experience.

Freeform and flexible -- The open-ended structure of the game means that there is no single path, but rather a wealth of options. Set your own pace and progress as you like. Build exactly the character you want by creating a detailed avatar, nurturing the right stats, and customizing your skills and equipment.

You act, the world reacts -- The World Tendency system changes the aggressiveness of monsters and the rewards for killing them based on players' actions. Different events and NPCs may be triggered, as well.

Don't touch that with a barge pole. It will be an import and the US servers may be switched off early next year.
Best to buy the UK version.

I've no idea of who the company is just say it at that price whilst looking up what the game was and whether my bf would like it
#4
are the UK servers ok for a while?

No worries. Normally it doesn't matter too much with PS3 games whether you buy a US or a UK/EU version, except for trade-in problems but with this game it has been released in the EU by a different publisher if you buy the US version you will play with players who have the US version and likewise with the EU version. As I say the publishers of the US version haven't promised to keep the servers running past early 2011.

As to whether you will like it, personally I thought it was brilliant.

I should imagine they are golden for quite some time. The US company is a very small publisher whereas the EU/UK one is a much larger company.
Just my 2 cents and others may have a more enlightened view.

The Demon's Souls Wiki is by the same people as the guide book, and is just as useful (if not more so)......

I spent 30 hours getting about 5% of the trophies and now I'm going to lose it all because the saves (for this particular game) are locked to the console and won't transfer even by data transfer. Why do they do that?
#12
Oh yeah good call..if i remember correctly the guidebook actually directs you to this site..pesky dragons.

I heard you can get round this by using the Ethernet transfer utility, don't know if true.
As for locked saves I can't fathom out why they do this as PSN saves have been tied to your user since an o/s release ages ago, not sure when 2007 or 2008 I think.

This is one of the best games of the current generation.

Without a doubt.

Load it, love it, shout at it then love it even more.

It teaches you why we love games, and why rewards should be earned, not given away..!
Carebear players.. look away NOW. You have been warned.. :D

Fantastic game, if you own a PS3 you must own this game. I've got my glorious collectors' edition but this will do for latecomers.
