This is from the latest set of Denon models. This seems like a great, great price for a 5.1 channel, HDMI 1.4, 3D ready receiver that'll happily run all the latest HD audio formats.

The inferior 1311 model is more expensive than this from the same seller!

Would be a perfect receiver for a smaller room and for building up your audio/visual gear bit by bit.

In stock and with free delivery!

Denon 1911 is £290 from the same seller too, if you want 7.1 as opposed to 5.1: http://www.petertyson.co.uk/ebuttonz/ebz_product_pages/denon_avr1911.shtml

Why buy an unknown brand like Denon when you can get a Technika from Tesco for less than half and it comes with speakers too.

Hahaha! Yeah, you're right, who would want this when Technika sounds like birdsong on a summer's day... ;)

1911 sounds like a great price, got the earlier 1910 when it was new for £450 and that was only 18 months ago!

Denon unknown?

I think that says more about your knowledge of the hi-fi industry than anything else.

A history of innovation in audio, and Japanese.

And not diluted by making a million and ones gadgets like Sony.

These guys make very good AV systems, suggest you read up a little.

Cheers

It's entirely subjective. I have Denon gear myself and I run it all through Mordaunt Short Mezzos, but they've stopped making them now.

Great company though

As well as the 'in' joke, the irony was also relevant because so many people rave about a crap item because it is half the price of a decent one, without considering quality. I don't even bother posting deals any more for this very reason.

I've bought a Denon item from Tysons before, and been happy with both supplier and item.

Try some jamo speakers. Top quality sound, cheap price. search on HUKD

I prefer a joke with a known brand as opposed to some unknown joke you could pick up from anywhere ;)

Been around a long time well the ferrari version has. If you are talking meridian you need to look at there cd player the 803... Mmmm nice.

I've got the demon 2311 running through monitor audio silver rxs for this bronzes would be a good match but go to a dealer and have a listen! Otherwise you save a few quid and risk miss matching and end up with less than the sum of your parts!
#19
Good price! Gonna get a new amp soon!

Does anyone know of a receiver around this price level that will power a passive subwoofer? As I can't justify a new speaker set just yet!!
#20
i agree with jut1972, the monitor audio bronzes should be on your audition list

Wicked Deal. I have this receiver running with Boston Acoustics XS 5.1 speakers. Sounds brilliant. Incidentally, Boston Acoustics, is owned by Denon and Marantz Holdings.

Would like to add this deal is instore only (_;)

good price for a beast of a machine.

I have a 7 year old analog Denon 3802 with 7.1, still going strong, I paid £650 back in '03
I havent seen a compelling reason to replace until I saw this deal.
Can anyone who has done a similar upgrade advise if it would be worthwhile for the HDMI and DTS HD support?

I currently use Optical leads with teh BluRay and the sound is quite good with a Samsung 2500 BD player with max bitrate DTS. Would I see/hear worls of difference?

I'm looking for a new speaker package and in two minds whether to go for these, or the Jamo's mentioned earilier. I've read up on WhatHiFi and they do mention them agains't each other, but to be honest, when I read their reviews it may as well be in russian as i'm not an audiophile.. e.g. "Again, rivals such as the Boston Acoustics SoundWare XS5.1 and Teufel Motiv 3 offer greater control at the top end."... What is 'the top end'???
#31
Denon have a policy of not selling things mail order, I'll also point out this is likely to be instore only.
#32
High notes.
So treble basically. A lot of av amps are about films so often its low end (bass) grunt that's talked about when in reality you want a bit of everything and if you want to use them for music you definitely need a more rounded package.

I may have to pony up the extra for the Boston Acoustics then.....

That sounds like commercial suicide from Denon, and rather pointless. There are simply not enough quality shops on the high street for people to buy one in their home town these days. It must be a new policy because I bought a Denon from Tysons a few years ago, and no way would I go to Carlisle to buy one. People will end up buying a "Technika from Tesco" instead.
