Just ordered one of these from Empire Direct for £62.99 (free delivery). Best price before this was £80 with some still selling it for over £100.
This player gets some very good reviews.
Should be of use to any one looking to upgrade their current standard DVD player to an upscaler.

My first post so be gentle.

i voted hot £63 for a Denon is a steal!

dont think some ppl know/appreciate the brand...
#3
Voted hot also. I think MKD is right, it's to do with peoples lack of brand knowledge. Denon is high quality!
#4
Well I voted hot. Isn't it annoying when people vote cold and don't give a reason. Pure selfishness! ;-)

Great deal for a great player - Hot!

Thanks to those leaving comments. This was my first attempt at posting a deal and felt a little bit of "wont bother next time".

This makes me feel a bit better and would agree that those voting cold may not know their brands. In which case I would say don't vote. Someone looking for a decent upscaler could find this deal useful.

because alot of people on here dont buy decent products at cheap prices.....just cheap **** and cheap prices (sometimes ok, but more often than just more landfill)

this far superiorto the samsung/philips/sony/toshiba **** dvd players of a similar price (i know i have a tosh and sammy as well as a denon1940)

excellent deal voted hot...ive got the denon 1940..there arent many players that will upscaler better unless you pay alot more money....my friends thought it was a blu ray player the pq was so good!

the 1740 isnt too far behind...highly rated in most review - what hifi, trusted review, cnet, etc

in fact the denon 1940 is £160, which is an excellent price for one of the best dvd players under £250 you can buy

agreed denon have been around for donkeys years but are regard i guess as a premium brand that lasts - to give you an idea - i had an amplifier which i bought 20 years ago for £350, used almost every day, sometimes for long periods.......i sold it 2 weeks ago in perfect working order - i suspect itll last another 20+ years

people think sony/tosh/philips/samsung are good - far from it imo with a few exceptions mainly just good marketing

Got my Denon today. Impressed by the service from Empire direct.
Denon looks bulky but very solid. Quickly got it set-up and played 300. Excellent picture and sound. Very impressed.

The player is region 2 out of the box and forums don't seem to show an easy hack for region free. So if you need multiregion maybe buy this from Richer Sounds who sell it as multiregion.
If you blag them a little, you may get them to price beat. I couldn't do this as my local store didn't have any stock, but would have been willing to price match.

I'm Happy :-D:-D:-D

dotn believe any player is multi-region as standard....for most players richer sounds just include the multiregion hack on/in the box (this hack is freely available on the net, and they charge you for it!!)
richer sounds - terrible company their wafer thin knowedged sales staff will not sell you what you want, just what they have in their warehouse - one sales guy thought a sharp 42in lcd hd ready tv was better than a pioneer 42in kuro plasma - i walked out as everything i wanted they didnt have
