A well regarded system, although I'd pay a few quid more and buy from Hughes, Superfi or someone else that isn't Pixmania.

Although this appears to be the cheapest, I think I'd rather spend a few extra quid and avoid Pixmania. Several places seem to be not much more. Richer Sounds is £179.95 if you wanted to get one from an actual store, or just less than £200 with a 5 year guarantee.

Not voting either way, just personal preference, and I know quite a few people would prefer not to use Pixmania.

Still a good find though

the wharfdale diamonds deserve a thread on their own, thanks

I wouls sooner buy from amazon for the same price
#11
nice price...shame about the retailer...

too many complaints about their shady practices and dodgy returns policies for me to use them....

This has got to be the first time in a long time that pixmania have been HOT!

What is actually available on DAB+ in the UK right now?

Anyone know?
#14
I'd sooner pay more and get a budget separates system, MUCH better sound !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Erm, nothing. DAB+ isn't used in the UK and there is no date set for implementation. It does at least mean that if it ever does happen your radio will still work.

I would, and did go for this but paired with Q acoustics 2010 speaker. Both What Hi Fi best buys, and the speakers they recommend you buy with this unit. Below link is for both for £279.95, and a decent company. Mine turned up next day having ordered at 3pm.

Link to substantiate claims?

Bought this a year ago from my local Richer sounds. Excellent sounding amp and a bargain at this price. I have it paired with some Tannoy Mercury F1 speakers and together they produce really excellent results for the money. Pleanty of very positive and justified reviews around. BE WARNED - I would never order from Pixmania. Appalling service and heaven forbid if you ever need to return anything to them for exchange or refund!

I'm still using my old NAD 302 and I was recently thinking about upgrading...Nice find!

Great product but I would stay well away from Pixmania. I will never buy anything from them again, no matter how cheap.
#22
Product is very good and price is good too.
Only thing worrying in this deal is from Pixmania. I have tried getting stuffs from them twice and both times i had to ask for my money back as they never processed the order for a week. So who ever ordered keep your fingers crossed.

This has got to be the first time in a long time that pixmania have been HOT!

It is hot for the receiver.. Not for Pixmania.

I bought this unit from Richer Sounds in Bristol, paired with Cambridge Audio SL20 speakers (ex-display) for £279.

Glad I went for this rather than an all-in-one Sony (or similar) DAB system.

To get a significant sonic upgrade over this you would have to take a chance with buying secondhand, and you're very likely to end up with something bulkier and/or less integrated.

what speakers would you guys recommend for this? i dont really want to spend over £100, i was thinking of getting the warfendales 9/0 for £60 or is it worth spending a little extra and getting the tannoy f1 customs? the tannoy are not rated well on whathifi, but the reviews on amazon for it are very good, im confused because im gna get this system.....from RICHER SOUNDS not pixmania!!!
#32
shame there's only 2 sets of phono inputs , good price tho.
#33
I've had mine for a week now (with Wharfedale Diamond 10.0 speakers) and absolutely love it!

I had a little moan about Pixmania recently but have to say theycame up trumps in the end and delivered on time and a second item was delivered fine and on time in the busy period too. I have a dispute re Quidco tracking on an item but the other tracked fine. I think Pixmania you are probably just unlucky should you need to return an item etc.
#36
could someone who already has this let me know if there's any external inputs??

Yes, as noted upthread it has two pairs of external analogue inputs plus a USB connection. See extensive discussion on this system over on avforums:-

Speaker choice is very subjective and very sensitive to room acoustics, you really do need to hear them yourself to get a good idea of what different speakers sound like.

I take no notice of what hifi reviews, they reckon different USB cables sound different FFS.
#39
Rubbish, go for a proper brand like Onkyo.
