The Denon SC-M37s are compact bookshelf stereo speakers with impressive performance for such a compact cabinet.

Featuring a 2-way design, a 120mm woofer and a 25mm high definition tweeter, these little speakers deliver a clear and precise sound. Their smart black finish and diminutive proportions mean that they are easy to place and will suit any décor.

Perfect for use with a micro system such as the Denon D-M37DAB, these SC-M37s are brilliant bookshelf speakers.

I think Denon speakers are actually made by Mission, aren't they? Some of them certainly are.

I remember some of the Denons been made by Mission. Unfortunately as with all the great brands that Richer sounds took over, they don't carry the quality they once did.

These speakers are poor. You can do better.
Try these if you're skint but want new :
http://www.audioaffair.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=1496
With some products, there is a physical requirement that results in...
if you spend too little, you get something that is "sub standard"
The M37 are "sub standard" speakears

Mission MV2's look interesting. Anyone have any reviews on them? Any other models worth considering in the price range? I'm after 2 pairs and don't really want to spend more than £140 all in.

How do they compare to a pair of Mission MV2 or Denon SC-M37?

honestly i don't know, i've not had the pleasure of a go of theRoth's yet.
but whathifi likes them, and other reviews i've read all say that they're very good at their price point :)

Yeah I've certainly heard good things about them but I can't find anything on the Missions so it's difficult to know which is best. Given that I want to buy 2 pairs I want to make the right choice :)

Take anything you read in What Hifi with a pinch of salt. It's primarily a PR vehicle for their favoured advertisers!

Those Missions put in a respectable performance for the price. They are plasticy, this is infered in the sound, and the bass is a bit "one note", but they produce a sense of dynamics and space better than most of what you'll find at this price level.

Wharfedale 10.1 are probably worth the extra, but I haven't heard them.

As a tip I recommend looking at used speakers. People are always upgrading and hifi buffs are fickle, so there are always bargains to be had. I just picked up a pair of JM Lab Chorus 705s off ebay for £30. They cost about £200 new (2004) but compete with designs at higher prices. They are in new condition except for a negligible ding.

My main speakers are also Focal JM Lab, which were £1300 new, I bought them a while back for £500. They are based on trickle down technology from their £30,000 Grand Utopia

What I'm saying is, forget the speakers in this deal they are ****... get the MV2 maybe you'll probalby love it, but for the same money you can get something a bit more special. The Mission 760i goes for £20 a pair on ebay they are so much better than anything you can buy new for less than about £150..

Here are some JM's that could be good for someone
