Great price for the special edition of the album. This includes a DVD which has the whole album In 5.1 Surround Sound plus 3 remixes and a short film.

Same price at Amazon but i thought this was the better deal as you can go through Topcashback or Quidco and get 5% (everything counts!)

Great price, really annoyed with Mute Records though for only releasing it in compressed 5.1

Totally agree with you on this.

I wish they would have continued with the SACD releases.

Glad to own most of the SACD releases, especially now they have decided to rerelease them all with just the 5.1 mixes, the second hand prices in general on SACDs are rocketing up.

I've also managed to get them all. The last couple were a struggle (CTA and BC) but managed to get them. BC has just sold for £117 on Ebay!

Wow, and to think I bought BC for something ridiculous like £8 with a voucher on time of release from CD WOW, I only have from Some Great Reward onwards, not too fussed with the early ones to be honest.

Glad i'm not the only one who was disappointed. I've been delaying my purchase of this with the small hope that the DM community would force a release (as they tend to do with vinyl).

I'm only missing CTA from my collection. The price of Black Celebration is ridiculous, I'm 'almost' tempted to sell my mint copy now it's fetching over £100. As much as it would sadden me, £100 is £100 :)

Feck! I didn't realise that the SAD releases were going for so much money! That said, I definately won't be in a rush to sell my copies - I've got all the albums in SACD format from Some Great Reward onwards (I too am not fussed about the earlier albums as they were tosh). Really disappointed that Mute didn't bite the bullet and put out an SACD version of SOTU - let's hope we get a Blu-Ray of the latest tour with uncompressed DTS-HD audio! Now that would almost make up for it... ;-)

btw - saw them in December in Birmingham. Here's a link to my piccies from the night...

Sadly SACD at least in the contemporary music market (still thrives in classical) is dying the death, its really pushing up the prices on Ebay on a lot of deleted SACDs, grab them whilst you can.

Amazingly as well, there are getting less and less Universal DVD Players, mine went caputt last summer and I had to buy a new one, fortunately managed to get a Pioneer 610 on clearance, but even that cost me more than my Blu Ray Player!

SACD is on the way out, so are the Universal Players, I am surprised though that there is no effort on Sonys part to get Blu Ray Music titles out there, offering Multi Channel HD Audio.

Hehe. Some of us have DVD-Audio discs too! I have two players capable of playing them but suspect that they'll eventually end up as coasters...

I guess you're either 'in' to Depeche Mode or you're not. Whilst Violator was a real 'cross-over' album for the band, most of their music tends to be something of an acquired taste. That said, Exciter was probably the worst album they've ever produced - with the exception of a couple of stand out tracks, even I struggled to love that album! lol

Been a massive fan of the band since 1981. I've met the band a few times and seen them too many times to mention....but I'm afraid that you'll have to pay ME £4.99 to listen to this album! Compared to the rest of their fantastic back catalogue this album is sadly woefully poor in comparison :(

Yeah, I have a Denon hybrid DVDA/SACD player. It broke but I managed to fix it thankfully

Would hate to lose my high-res collection.

I gotta agree with you on the "Exciter" front, although more recently on listening to it I appreciated it a little bit more than the disappointment 4 years after how great "Ultra" was.

My Pioneer 610 does play DVD-A too, I only own about 4 DVD-A titles though, but I am seriously concerned about Universal Players becoming a thing of the past, My previous Samsung HD950 Player just packed in one day, troubleshooting it I tried replacing a transistor which brought back the display momentarily and nothing else....hope this latest player fairs much better, at least the Pioneer has a seperate Power Supply board, everything on the Samsung was integrated.

Pioneer seem to have stopped production of Universal Players, and most other manufacturers only have Universal Players at the higher end of their product line or have stopped production and only do SACD/CD Decks.
