The TKMaxx philosophy:

Take a £10 shirt
Put a £50 price ticket on it
Have an 80% off sale
Sell shirt for £10, wahey!! :)

TK Maxx clothes are mostly poor seconds that have faults (I had a t-shirt where the printing came off after one wash) been on the floor 100 times because most of the stores are a jumble sale with extreme lack of staff to 'save' money etc

Most things are seconds and aren't the size they state and fit poorly because of it.

I should know, I've worked there for two years! Unfortunately...

Basically, all the clothes look second-hand and are crap seconds.

They were also selling "swiss army" jackets with a tethered knife stitched into the inside pocket.
Because life's complicated enough....no that's somewhere else.
Bed time!

Used to be a good shop where there were genuine bargains to be had ie. 25 quid Diesel jeans. But no longer, full of junk nobody wants and at normal prices. Living on borrowed time.

I hate the shop and hate working there but they're still alot cheaper than elsewhere.

Diesel jeans are £39.99 at our store and sometimes £30 so it's not all doom and gloom but I wouldn't buy anything from there.

Some of their homeware is lovely, I have bought quite a few things for my home that I would not find on the high street, I do believe that some of their prices are exaggerated but is that not in every shop??

I've been shopping there for years and providing you're not actually looking for anything specific you'll always find bargains. Particularly the toiletries. Plus there ski and hiking stuff is very good value.

Awesome value for money if you look for the red stickers. Would rather buy a shirt in there than in a poncy, arrogant, highly overpriced men's boutique.

Get the same shirt at a fraction of the the price.

(Think Ralph Laurn Polo.)

Tk Maxx rocks.
It can be abit like a jumble sale tho agreed but i think thats the point. Some people myself included enjoy a good rake.
I have a serious T shirt habit and TK Maxx helps me avoid stealing my mums jewelry to finance it. ;o)
I've had some amazing deals from there.
My Timberland hoodie was £16 non clearance.

There is always such negativity when TKMaxx is mentioned. I've been shopping there for years now and everything I've bought has been top notch - not sure on this talk of seconds. Maybe some are but the ones I get are always spot on. Have bought all my designer jeans from there, quality t-shirts, fine jumpers, trainers, shoes, sports jackets and various gadgets etc. Always love the fact I can spend about £80 and come away with tons of items. Awesome way to renew the wardrobe every so often.
I also get all my bags from there as well as they often have some awesome deals.

I can accept that different stores may do things differently though. The Nottingham ones have always been really good - especially for mens stuff. The women's section does look a bit crap but I think a lot of that is down to how aggressive women can be when searching for a bargain.

I often hit TKMaxx when going on holiday as I can be in there for an hour and pick up an entire holiday wardrobe for next to nothing.

Oh I love TK Maxx - I've found some real gems in there. I know it's not for everyone because you really have to look for the good stuff. I always get my jeans from there now as I can find ones that actually fit my waist. My favourite pair are my black Lee skinnies I got for £9.

I really don't care if they're 'seconds'.

Most of the stuff in TK Maxx is seconds.....most of it is just misaligned seams and slightly wonky lables...with the odd mis-cut material thrown in.....its the stuff the manufacturers couldnt sell as firsts as it doesnt pass their quality control tests....BUT, if you dont mind this then TK Maxx is good for you as you get the designer names at a cheaper price.

That's it exactly, though surely some items are just overstock etc?
I think as long as you check the items you are buying - which is a good idea for *any* store - then you can come away with quality at a low price. It's certainly worked for me anyway.
Got my entire holiday wardrobe for Miami in 2006. Was awesome to spend a few hours grabbing loads of new clothes and then wearing them on hols.

Thanks to the OP. Have just ordered a laptop bag - just what I needed.

I been in there a few times recently and they simply do not sell good brands anymore most of the brands I have never heard of.

Primark sell cheaper and better clothes.
