I understand that 3-mobile is not everyones cup of tea. But my friend and family have been using them and everyone has been singing praises of the good customer service and signal that decided to give them a try.

Moving on from O2 as they have no loyalty discounts for customers (been with them for 5 years) and there offer was more expensive then anyone else

This is what I signed up on with 3 on their One Plan (called them up and asked for best offer)
2000 mins (anytime anynetwork)
3000 mins (3 to 3)
5000 Txt
1 GB internet
HTC Desire (free)
on the £35/month on £24 months contract

Now also got £30 for myself and my uncle for recommend a friend
Was given a £20 accessories voucher
£100 cashback from Quidco - Already tracked

Effectively total cost (35x24)-30-20-100=690 / 24months = £28.75

Now before people start offering me other deals please consider what I was on O2 and what they were offering for my upgrade (also went through to cancellation)
Before
600 mins, 500 txt, unlimited internet (3GB) and unlimited landline, Serra = £20/month (with loyalty discount)
New offer from O2
600 mins, unlimited txt, 500mb internet, Desire for £49.99 = £35/month

I now have 14 days to change my contract. So welcome all members to advice whether this deal is good.

3 is also offering with this deal 5gb mobile internet for £11

C code. got the desire for 23 quid a month

How did you get that?
#3
Bah I was typing it on my HTC desire and it cut the message off. What i was trying to say was that I got the same deal but less minutes 900, as an exsisting cusotmer who got it and the desire for £23 a month via the retentions team. good deal as you got 100 quid on quidco and 20 worth of vouchers + 30 quid for recommending a family/friend. As for people trying to **** 3 and their network. Their customer service team might be indian (mostly) but after a bit of messing about they do try and give you a decent deal.

How is the service of the voice calls and in the internet where you live. My family say that they never have any problems with the service

I know you used to be able to get both recommend a friend and Quidco but last time I tried they had stopped it.
Would be good if the allowed it again but don't hold your breath
Also make sure using the voucher doesn't mess the cashback up
Cashback will not be paid where a voucher is used.

I'll be honest generally in my house in Preston about 2 miles from the M6 I get 2/3 bars downstairs of 4 bars. and upstairs I get 3 bars all the time. The missus uses her desire also on 3 to use Facebook and she says it is slow sometimes but she is on it all night messaging back and forth rather than using the pc. Im happy with it its definentely faster than on my N95 8gb for browsing the web. voice calls are good not had any dropped yet. The speaker phone is not as good as on the n95 in my opinion. The hardest thing for me has been the move to using a touchscreen im forever pressing the wrong buttons!

There is a 3g coverage checker online you can use to see if your covered.

The voucher was given by the sales agent himself and was an extra deal sweetner as I got them competing against t-mobile :)
I checked and Quidco has already tracked my order.

sorry but you got me confused..you say you called them up and asked for best offer but you also say quidco has tracked!!! as far as i know quidco wll track only for purchases through the site not over the phone..Am I missing something?
#9
Agree with Sam1970; can't understand the link between ordering via phone and the internet,. with Quidco tracking??

Otherwise, deal prices need to be quoted as total price, not the price after any potenital cashback payments, as
1. the actual price is what you must legally pay and
2. the cashback may not be paid

Like Bikefreedom, the poster - I am also interested in a Desire deal, so looking around, and feedback on how good the deal is, or whether there are better out there would be wonderful. Thanks to Bikefreedom for posting this, and others who give deal feedback.

Thanks ;)

I apologise, yes that does sound confusing.
I called them, got the best deal over the phone. Then I hung up, went through quidco and clicked the online chat with sales advisor. Told him that I got disconnected and explained what I was offered. The online sales advisor gave me the £20 accessory voucher code when I placed the order online.
Checked 20 mins later on quidco and showed acceptance of order :)

So have you actually received the quidco payment, or has it just tracked?

I placed the order with 3 yesterday and is showing as Tracked. According to quidco website payment is usually received after a month. I have never experienced quidco paying instantly.

Im hoping to get a Desire when my contract with o2 is up in 2 weeks time. Paying 20 a month right now. This deal sounds ok but have unlimited internet right now. How much surfing does igb give you?
#15
O2 has stopped giving loyalty discounts and have stopped the unlimited internet. How do I know I had both. The retention team told me that no one is getting loyalty discounts and that internet is 500mb for everyone. They said that all existing and new customers will now get the same deals. This is the reason why I switched yesterday. What was really annoying was the arrogance of upgrades and retention department. When I asked why O2 contracts are now the most expensive in comparison to other networks, the lady at the retention department bluntly said 'we cant comment on other network, this is the best deal we can offer you, if you dont want it we can offer you sim only deal, PAC code or transfer you to pay-as-you go'.

So i choose the PAC code. Any now moving my number to 3 after staying 6 years with O2

I hope your quidco tracks but I've taken a contract via the 3 website before where it tracked but was later declined. Just because it tracks does not guarantee payment, especially with the use of the voucher and refer a friend as well.

I would be surprised if this pays out and, besides, quidco should not be added to the deal as it's a bonus if it pays out and not guaranteed.
#17
So really you just bought the bog standard plan and you are hoping quidco will pay to get it down to that price, good luck with that :p

I have just got the deal of the decade from the 3 retentions department.

I have got the Desire, with 300 cross network minutes, unlimited internet capped at 2gb, unlimited texts, unlimited landline calls and unlimited 3 to 3 calls plus on an 18 month contract. The cost is £24 a month.

By far the best deal i have found
#19
i like that contract.

Im getting this phone on Tuesday from 'Three'. I was about to leave them and go PAYG but they offered me this deal yesterday: 100 mins to any network, 2000 texts, 5000 mins to 3 phones, 1GB internet, 2000 mins to landline numbers AND this phone for FREE.....all for a 24 month contract at.... £10 a month!!!! Bargain of the year for me!!
Reviews for this phone are great too: http://www.mobile-phones-uk.org.uk/htc-desire.htm
