Just been to Tesco in Watford to get Despicable Me which is released on Dvd today. They are offering it for £12 or £7 if you spend £40 instore.
The till isn't deducting the £5 when you spend £40 so a quick trip to customer services gets you double the difference refund of £10!

So check your receipt if you've already been this morning or go quickly if you want to get it. The customer services lady said they were aware of the problem so I don't know how long it will be before the error is corrected.

why would they give you double the difference? Surely they only gove you a £5 back?

No, because they give you back double what they should have taken off - so you get the £5 they should have removed in the first place, plus another £5 as 'compensation'.

not £2, because you have to spend £40 on shopping, cold

It's not exactly difficult to spend £40 in Tesco. I just topped up with a few essentials and it easily goes over £40!

It's their policy. If you are ever overcharged for a product they give you double the difference back. I've just done it and got a refund of £10

How can a new released dvd for £2 be cold! I don't know why I bothered!

Think that depends which customer service person you see - my local Tesco recently didn't reduce a mobile phone that we bought for my daughter. When I went back, I got the reduction, but not the double.

Same thing just happened to me in Carnforth, was second person this happened to. Did not ask for any further money off, just offered £5.00 extra and apologised for error, so £12.00 for £2.00, thats the kids sorted for tomorrow afternoon. Bargain day as been to Vue cinema for Kids £1.00 am.

You have to be persistent. If you don't point out that they ARE supposed to give you double the difference if you are over charged, they'll happily just give you what you were over charged. It is part of their customer charter, you ARE entitled to it - you just need to ask (actually you shouldn't have to ask - but there you are).

I think that this is a good deal.
