Do these devices cost a lot to run.

14mb version. your better off staying with wireless

could these stream some simple divx xvid files to a networked player without stutter??
#4
Wish I'd read Uridium's post about these being 14Mbps before I ordered, that's slower than my ADSL2! :-(

Unlikely as they I remeber reading that the actual tramsition rates are lower than those specified.

For Example the 200mb/s powerline plugs reportidly get 70-80mbps at best (or less depending on your house wiring system). I would look for the 85mb/s version or above) for this usage, like this one

Should be fine if you just want to email and surf though! Voted hot for that purpose - it is a very good price, especially if you don't have a very fast internet connection anyway.

Not sure if this is a good choice. It is a totally different piece of kit, used to extend a wireless set up

Definately says Speed - Up to 14Mbps in the original post.

You will find that they run more like 7mb, the 14mb is combined upload and download ratio.

Still a good price, I succesfully used some similar items for just sharing my connection but never tried streaming over them.
#10
Not fast enough for streaming, you need the 85mb ones for SD streaming or the 200mb ones for HD streaming.
#11
Alright for casual browsing but for streaming or copying loads of large files go for the Devolo dLAN 200 or PANASONIC BL-PA100KT (cheaper) AV Powerline kits.

You can just print out the page, take it to PC World and then price match it and get 10% , I bought one about 2 weeks ago! came to about £18?
Good luck getting one! :D

Your average 1CD XviD / DivX file won't require more than 1 Mbit/s so these units should be more than capable.
