Great price, and well worth it if you have slow Wifi connections.

Never had any speed issues with my 85Mbps homeplugs.

Very good device save me money from buying xbox wifi adapter or buying a new xbox. Got it £15 from currys 2 weeks ago. Still good buy hot...

Quick question, will the work if I have two separate fuse boxes, with 1 adaptor on each circuit?

great price. it says it comes with two 2 metre cables too.

This is very slow and really is two generations behind in terms of speed. 85 mbps is not fast enough to reliably transmit streaming video. It is important to remember that 85 mbps is a maximum and that it refers to the entire traffic going back and forth on the network so you are going to get far less than this in practice. Also remember that for many people they don't just want to access internet but also stream video etc from a media server. Simply not good enough and a foolish investment.

I just received mine this week, they are slow compared to my wifi. Not sure if it's the wiring in my flat, but i get 1MB/sec on these, but 5MB/sec on my wifi.

will these definitely work with an xbox 360 for media center, netflix etc ?thanks

For another £5 you can get a wifi repeater off ebay (has 1x lan port too, same as these). Easy to setup and much faster.

For around £13 more you can get 500mbps people pay the extra and you will get much master performance that will be capable of streaming 1080p and other high bandwidth stuff. These where good at £14.99 as a toe in the homeplug pond and im happy with the ones i got as i bought them to see if they where a viable replacement for long cable runs and they work great, will now go and buy a set of 1gb ones or 500mbps ones now, at £20 they are a lot of money for slow homeplugs even though they are from a great manufacturer of this technology.

Speed wise they show up as 100mbps on the status of your connection and i tested mine using a file of over 1gb from the newsgroups as this gives a consistent speed for me to judge performance. I put both homeplugs on the same downstairs ring main so this would be the best scenario you could hope for, then downloading off my 100meg Virgin broadband although you would expect the same sort of speeds from any ISP who gives more than 10meg BB. With my usual cat6 cabling i see download speeds of around 12mbps on my laptop, using the homeplug i saw at max around 1.15-1.3mbps download speeds. I then took the one plug upstairs meaning they where on separate ring mains one upstairs the other downstairs which is what i expect a lot of people to do and ran the same test again, this time the speed had took a big drop it was now at most 435kbps so around a 1/3 of the downstairs speeds. This says to me that you would more than likely struggle to stream a HD file off the likes of Netflix with the Plugs in a upstairs downstairs setup or stream anything other than Divx to a media streamer, Our house was rewired not so long ago so i would expect my speeds to be at the top of what these are capable of. For general web browsing and emailing they should be fine but anything more and they are really not up to it so you should go for the faster ones.

I hope this helps some of you.

I would say not depending on the setup of how your wiring is and what ring main they will be on. WiFi is a much better option and is just as cheap a 150mbps N router is only around this price and f you have a slim you have builtin WiFi on the 360 so its easier and faster

anyone know if these will "talk" to existing Solwise 85 units..ie work alongside them.with one Solwise currently at the router end (upstairs).."feeding" signal to the other Solwise and 2 devolos (all 85s) in different downstairs locations? I have an older version of these..basically the same:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Solwise-85Mbps-Homeplug-Adapter-Twin/dp/B002XL6IUU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345542737&sr=8-1

I need 2 more units & these are much cheaper than the Solwise..

This would suggest that Solwise and Devolos interoperate: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=mixing+devolo+and+solwise

Might be worth keeping in mind that they may need configuration, but they should all adhere to the HomePlug spec: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HomePlug

If you're going to make statements like this, could you at least link to this amazing site that sells 500mbps Homeplug units for £23? If you are looking at Scan, their 500 units are £63 the pair, before postage.

These 85mbps are absolutely fine for XBOX and PS3 gaming - I've just replaced a set after something like 5 years of use. They can stream music too. I wouldn't rely on them for streaming HD, although I did - maybe I was lucky with my house wiring. I found them far more reliable than wifi, too.

In theory all Homeplug units are meant to be able to talk to each other but I have never tried it. Don't think you can mix and match speeds, though. Also the 85mbps is divided by the number of connections.

Devolo is a good make and these are an excellent budget choice for anyone setting up a simple home network where wi-fi is not feasible or reliable. Great for gaming, surfing, email, streaming music - not great for media buffs who want 1080p streamed to their bedroom plasma.

I got these for £14.99 when they were on last and IMO are great for the money, we only have 8MB broadband cause of the area we are in, the speed that comes out of the homeplug in the living room is the same speed as the modem, no slow down at all. In the living room I have the homeplug attached to a 4 way switch and all devices work perfectly, much better than on wifi, plu dont need to get the wifi adaptor for the Skybox or the TV.
No point getting more exspence ones if your internet speeds arent up there.

Really not worth getting this obsolete technology when 200Mbps homeplugs are available for just a few pounds more, and will be able to handle HD streaming unlike these outdated plugs

anyone recommend some decent ones that would easily take online gaming on ps3/360 and streaming (Netflix) as well as a bit of downloading? My comtrend 200mbps have packed up and I'm not replacing them for a third time with the same make! I need 4 preferably
