Guided cycle tours - 3 days from £90.00

I put this up last year and it went hot. It looks like their prices are the same (from £90 for a fully guided 3 day tour) but they are running far fewer trips in 2012. Not everyone’s cup of tea I kn…

Steven Spielberg certainly seemed to like it down in Devon:

“I have never before, in my long and eclectic career, been gifted with such an abundance of natural beauty as I experienced filming War Horse on Dartmoor ... "

Dunno if he'd have been able to cycle up some of the hills tho!
I put this up last year

does that mean that you are just re-cycling?

After lurking on here for about a year thought I’d better post my first deal, so here goes – go easy on me! Seen some posters in Exeter for guided bike tours on Dartmoor etc for £15 and £20. Seem…

Can I suggest you consider joining a local cycle club? You could also try the Cycle Touring Club (CTC).

Sadly, my father has Alzheimer's, so most of my free time is taken up ... but thankyou anyway.

Mr Fizzy .. I like your wit :p

Can I suggest you consider joining a local cycle club? I did in January and haven't looked back since. I really enjoy going out in a group and there are usually lots of different cycle rides and events organised. Most standards are catered for as well. You could also try the Cycle Touring Club (CTC).
When cycling you must always look back, especially before pulling out round parked cars ;)

As a keen cyclist, this sort of thing would appeal to me, if i lived nearby. Going on a tour, or even a day's ride with others is always better than doing it alone.

Unfortunately Whitley Bay, is too far away.

Good deal though

I would go for this If I didn't live a few hundred miles away. Hot. :)

I was down in Devon for a few days and popped into Newton Abbot TIC. The whole front window was decked out in promo pictures etc for Devon Cycle Tours.co.uk. Some of the photos were fantastic but what…

Usual puerile comments from the cliquey regulars who try to denigrate all "outsiders" offerings.

Sounded a good deal to me, wouldn't mind a go if circumstances permitted.
Seems more of an advert than a deal to me...

But I do agree with lizzue1978,

Some people need a comfort zone to try something new and some people will enjoy it.

Why pay at the hair salon when you can do it yourself for free?
Why go out for an expensive meal when you can cook your own?
Why pay to watch a premier league football match when you can watch one at the local park for free?
The list is endless.

When I've been on guided tours (with other companies) we've had the 'services' of the guides/hosts for roughly 14 hours a day (8.30 - 22.30). They took care of the accommodation, made sure everyone was ok, guided us on great trails, made sure we saw all the local sights worth seeing, took us to the best cafes/pubs etc, gave us some local history, helped fix any flats etc etc. It was also reassuring to have a support vehicle and first aiders close at hand.

Not many of my friend are into the outdoors so it was good to meet a new bunch of people with a similar interests.

That's what you are paying for on this type of thing. It won't be everyone's cup of tea.
All i was saying is that 'like for like' this seems a pretty good deal.

Why would you pay for something that is free?
You could say exactly the same thing of any guided tour. Sure you could do something similar by going with a few friends and having some of them driver a car and some cycle but may not be much fun in the car.

Or just return to the point that you started from - simples!

Seriously, you can do this for free, why pay!
smidav, you have to pitch it to channel 5.
Made me chuckle outloud!
