Cant see this being worth more than the Makita or Hitachi deals.

Reason why these are on-sale is because new models are out. New models come with Ni-MH batteries and improved motor technology.

While De-Walt are a renowned make there are many electric drills on the market right now using Ni-MH batteries. May just pay to look around first.

Reason they are on sale because Screwfix have a big sale on. This was in my opinion one of the better deals in their sale catalogue I just received. Are the Ni-MH battery models really new? I thought they have been out for a while

Yes, the De-Walt Ni-MH versions are new. They've only ever offered their electric drills with Ni-Cads. Screwfix sale is to rid of the old stock.
