SDS with no chisel function useless? What planet are you on man!? An SDS on its own is far superior that any hammer drill out there so plenty of uses for it. As for the chisel function, well lets just say for those sizes and impact you would not want to chisel anything more than tiles off. A 6KG one would be far more useful hen it came to chiselling.

That was for the Hammer drill not the SDS drill. Hell of a lot of difference.

You never know when you could need the chisel function though! as a 6kg is a bit big for your average DIY hero!

I used my nans OH's dewalt like this chisel fuction and brill for removing bricks from a wall and tidying up concrete etc

That was a Screwfix deal mate, just before xmas B&Q were offering this package for £84 odd with a £15 off coupon printed in the paper with anything over £50 which made it £69 odd.

Ah had me confused as the Hammer drill offer is still going strong at Screwfix!

I have the SDS drill in this pack (bought it about 6 years ago now for ~£100) and it's brilliant - still going string after much abuse! I live in an oldish house (about 100 years - when bricks were bricks and wood was wood) and compared to the traditional hammer drill I had, there is no comparison! SDS drills rock!

Useless is a bit strong - an excellent drill - but it would be so much better with roto stop. I have both versions (really) and the chisel function of one is constantly used for small jobs. A breaker it is not - gets very hot if you chisel for too long - but a few small channels in screed it is fine.

Think your wrong there. If this is the same kit which was on offer from Screwfix, previously, (which it looks like), then the SDS does have a chisel function.
